Jenson Button Drives Brawn BGP 001 at Goodwood 2026

Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button will reunite with his championship-winning car, the Brawn BGP 001, at next year’s 83rd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. He will climb back into the cockpit for an on-track demonstration at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, celebrating his acclaimed career after retiring from professional motor racing.

Button last drove the Brawn BGP 001 in 2019 to mark the 10th anniversary of his Formula 1 title. The Brawn GP Team built the BGP 001 as its first and only car, and it proved devastatingly fast throughout the 2009 season. Button and Rubens Barrichello guided the team to eight wins from seventeen races, sealing one of the sport’s most remarkable championship stories.

Across the weekend, the Formula 1 World Champion will make his Members’ Meeting debut in the very car that carried him to the 2009 championship. The Brawn BGP 001 has already featured at the Festival of Speed in 2016 and during SpeedWeek in 2020, and it now returns to Goodwood for a headline moment that brings modern Formula 1 sound and speed to the historic circuit.

Button has strengthened his ties with Goodwood over more than two decades, attending major motorsport events since the early 2000s. He made his historic racing debut at the Goodwood Revival in 2021, driving in the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration (RAC TT). In 2025, he won the Freddie March Memorial Trophy and raced his 1962 Jaguar E-Type CUT 8 in the RAC TT, which he bought specifically for the occasion.

Friend of Goodwood and 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button said: “I am excited to be making my Members' Meeting debut, and in no less special a car than the Brawn BGP 001. I last had a chance to drive it back in 2019, which was incredibly emotional and quite surreal. I cannot wait to experience that feeling all over again, and where better than Goodwood!”

The Duke of Richmond CBE DL said: “I can’t wait to see Jenson back behind the wheel of the fabled Brawn BGP001 at the 83rd Members’ Meeting. Seeing and hearing a modern Formula 1 car at speed around the Goodwood Motor Circuit is always a thrill - a tantalising glimpse at what might have been, had the circuit not closed in 1966. And this time will be even more special, as we reflect on the career of one of Britain’s most popular World Champions, and the unique success of the Brawn team during that amazing 2009 season. Jenson has been a loyal supporter of everything we do at Goodwood since he first entered F1 nearly 26 years ago, although remarkably, this will be the first time he has ever driven the Brawn here. It really will be an ‘I was there’ moment, and the best possible way to celebrate the end of Jenson’s professional racing career.”

The demonstration will sit alongside previously announced highlights for the 83rd Members’ Meeting, including a celebration of Formula 1 legend James Hunt, a Super Touring Car demonstration and Shoot-Out, and an all-sustainable race schedule that keeps competitive racing at the heart of the Goodwood Members’ Meeting experience.
