Alfa Romeo Leads Tutto Bene Hillclimb at Mottarone
Alfa Romeo sponsors the second “Tutto Bene Hillclimb”, an evocative parade of collector cars that brings together enthusiasts from across the world in a unique landscape. The event follows the private road of the Strada Borromea, from Gignese above Stresa in the Province of Novara to the summit of Mottarone, and took place on Wednesday, 10 September. Around 80 cars, both contemporary and classic, took part, from the most representative icons of Italian motoring to simpler yet significant models, all united by the motto “only cool cars allowed”.
Alfa Romeo drew particular attention, arriving with its historic 1967 Tipo 33/2 “Periscopica” and the modern Giulia Quadrifoglio, symbols of a timeless passion. The Borromeo de Silva design studio and the US creative agency Race Service organised “Tutto Bene” as a dynamic yet safe meeting that celebrates the local area. The event does not include time trials or speed races. The slogan “slow down to go fast” captures the spirit and presents driving as a conscious experience, immersed in the landscape and shared among enthusiasts.
The 2025 edition shines a spotlight on one of the most iconic cars in Alfa Romeo history, the 1967 Tipo 33/2 “Periscopica”, known as “Fléron”. This legendary model marked the brand’s official return to international racing. At its debut, it won the Fléron hillclimb with Teodoro Zeccoli at the wheel. Its extraordinary sporting journey began on 12 March 1967 and culminated in the Marche world titles in 1975 and 1977.
Regarded as the forerunner of the 33 Stradale, the Periscopica stands among the most authentic masterpieces of Alfa Romeo tradition. It features a 2-litre V8 producing 270 hp and a tubular frame made of light alloy and magnesium, resulting in a total weight of just 580 kg, and epitomises Italian racing engineering. Over the years, it raced on the legendary roads of the Targa Florio, Sebring, and the Nürburgring, distinguishing itself with its agility and power.
Scuderia del Portello currently looks after the car. Founded in Arese in 1982 as an official Alfa Romeo team for historic races, the Scuderia preserves and races some of the brand’s most iconic vehicles, turning them into a veritable “museum in motion” at prestigious events such as the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic, and Goodwood Festival of Speed. Together with the Portello Factory, it provides restoration, logistics and technical support that keep the racing tradition and timeless charm of Alfa Romeo alive around the world.
The exclusive event at Lake Maggiore also features a special Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. This model was featured on Hollywood’s screens in Michael Bay’s 2019 film 6 Underground, as it darted through the alleyways of Florence in its spectacular, fluorescent green livery, one of the most memorable action sequences of recent years. With its beating heart, a twin-turbo V6 that delivers over 500 hp, this Giulia Quadrifoglio stands as an icon of Italian power and design and the undisputed star of the parade, ready to enchant the public with its stage presence.
At Mottarone, Alfa Romeo unites the legend of the Tipo 33/2 “Periscopica” with the power of the Giulia Quadrifoglio, creating a single expression of the Biscione. This brand transforms its history into timeless passion and emotion.
