Hyundai IONIQ 6 N Shocks Goodwood with 650 PS EV Debut

Hyundai Motor Company today introduced the IONIQ 6 N to the world at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, advancing Hyundai N’s electrification journey from electric motorsport roots in Pure ETCR to track-capable, street-ready electric sports cars. The high-performance electric vehicle pushes the boundaries of electrified performance, cementing Hyundai’s position among pioneers of cutting-edge, zero-emission engineering.

At the heart of the IONIQ 6 N lies Hyundai’s commitment to delivering an exhilarating yet everyday-useful drive. Engineers built the car to satisfy N’s three-pillar philosophy—Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sportscar—so drivers enjoy razor-sharp handling on circuit days and refined comfort on the commute.

“With IONIQ 6 N, Hyundai N aims to elevate its offerings, enticing drivers with electric powertrains that offer high-performance enthusiasts a thrilling new avenue to electrify their passion both on the road and on the track,” said José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company.

They achieved that harmony through a fully redesigned suspension geometry, an enhanced N e-Shift virtual gearbox that preserves torque, and upgraded hardware that powers a richer N Active Sound + audio experience. Extensive acoustic tuning makes every journey immersive while minimising energy loss.

The IONIQ 6 N’s twin-motor powertrain unleashes 650 PS (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque, launching the electric sports saloon from 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds with N Launch Control and on to 257 km/h. Such figures place it among the fastest road-legal electric cars available in the UK.

A revamped N Battery management system regulates temperatures for drag runs, sprints and endurance sessions. Faster conditioning, increased coolant-heater capacity, and adaptive thermal controls ensure consistent and always-ready performance.

Aerodynamic attention—from the motorsport-inspired swan-neck rear wing to widened arches—balances downforce and drag, boosting high-speed stability and visual drama on the Hillclimb and the motorway alike.

Hyundai finishes the body in Performance Blue Pearl, adding extra depth to the marque’s signature colour and underscoring the car’s dynamic identity.

Beneath the sculpted exterior, a re-engineered chassis with a lowered roll centre and stroke-sensing ECS dampers enhances damping control for smooth city rides and predictable track responses, providing drivers with more grip, feedback, and confidence.

“IONIQ 6 N combines formidable power, sophisticated battery management, aerodynamic mastery and advanced suspension systems to deliver a compelling blend of speed, stability and comfort, setting new benchmarks in modern automotive engineering,” said Manfred Harrer, Executive Vice President and Head of Vehicle Development Tech Unit at Hyundai Motor Company.

Hyundai’s in-house vehicle-control software deepens engagement. The N Active Sound + stereo system, driven by a performance-enhanced Acoustic Design Processor, offers three vivid soundscapes—‘Ignition’, ‘Evolution’ and ‘Lightspeed’—so drivers can select the soundtrack that matches the moment.

N e-Shift simulates close-ratio gear changes to heighten response and integrates seamlessly with N Launch Control, N Drift Optimiser, N Grin Boost and N Torque Distribution. The N Ambient Shift Light adds visual shift prompts, turning the cockpit into an intuitive performance hub.

The N Track Manager allows owners to create bespoke circuits, log speed data, and analyse lap times with ghost-car overlays. At the same time, the adjustable N Drift Optimiser fine-tunes initiation, angle, and wheelspin for controlled sideways fun.

Owners can further tailor their track-ready EV with official N performance parts, bringing motorsport-inspired style and capability to public roads.

At Goodwood, Hyundai supports the global debut with an interactive stand beside the Hillclimb start, complete with a grandstand view, stamp-tour reward, and the full electrified N lineup, including the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 5 N TA Spec.

Festival-goers will watch icons such as the ’14 WRC Rally 1, ’24 WRC Rally 1 Hybrid, IONIQ 5 N, RN24 and the new IONIQ 6 N Drift Spec tackle the course, culminating in the ‘N Moment’ demonstration run on 10 July, when the entire Hyundai N family storms Goodwood in synchronised style.
