Alpine Electrifies Goodwood With A290 Rallye and Alpenglow
Alpine electrified the Goodwood Festival of Speed by sending the Alpine A290 Rallye, the hydrogen-powered Alpenglow HY6 concept, the formidable A110 R Ultime and the forthcoming Alpine A390 fastback up the hill for their first UK runs, thrilling the sell-out crowd and spotlighting the marque’s 70th anniversary.
The BWT Alpine Formula One team amplified the spectacle, while the all-electric A290, freshly crowned European Car of the Year 2025, attacked the course with the verve expected of the French sports-car specialist. Engineers crafted the A290 Rallye around a full safety cage, a ZF limited-slip differential and uprated suspension, brakes and running gear, proving the seamless link between Alpine road cars and its motorsport machines.
The Alpenglow HY6, powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 740 bhp, combined environmental innovation with raw performance to show how hydrogen can shrink a sports car’s carbon footprint, while its striking design previewed cues for future Alpine models. Not to be outdone, the A110 R Ultime unleashed 345 bhp and 420 Nm of torque to sprint from 0-100 kph in 3.8 seconds, setting an early benchmark for festival time-setters.
Alpine also displayed its expanding road-car lineup, led by the sleek, all-electric Alpine A390 fastback, the brand’s first five-seat sports model arriving on UK roads in 2026; alongside it stood the agile A290 and the much-admired A110, each reinforcing Alpine’s enduring blend of high performance, sharp handling and motorsport pedigree.
