Aston Martin DB12 S: The Ultimate Super Tourer Revealed

Aston Martin unveils the new DB12 S, a halo model that elevates the acclaimed, driver-focused DB12 with more power, sharper dynamics and extensive design and interior upgrades. The DB12 S crowns the Super Tourer line with intensified ultra-luxury performance and striking presence.

Honouring the marque’s tradition of the S suffix for the most focused variants, the DB12 S joins DBX S and Vantage S in a lineage that began with the DB3S in 1953 and later included the Vanquish S of 2004 and 2016, V8 and V12 Vantage S models from 2011 and 2013, and the four-seat Rapide S from 2013.

At its heart, a more potent Aston Martin 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now delivers 700 PS at 6000 rpm, up by 20 PS, and 800 Nm between 3000 and 6000 rpm. The DB12 S responds instantly, surges with relentless acceleration and reaches 202 mph. Calibration updates optimise Launch Control, cut gearshift times by more than 50% and trim the 0-60 mph sprint to 3.4 seconds. Engineers have refined the drive-by-wire throttle with an S-specific map, providing a more progressive pedal feel and enhanced connection.

The exhaust system gains a distinctive voice. A new quad-tailpipe stainless-steel sports system accentuates key engine frequencies across the rev range for greater depth and punch. An optional titanium exhaust amplifies bass, midrange, and treble, lifting the overall sound by 1.5 dB and saving 11.7 kg compared to stainless steel, thereby enhancing performance and character.

Chassis revisions further sharpen agility, precision and composure. Updated software for the Bilstein DTX dampers enhances roll and pitch control, working in conjunction with a stiffer rear anti-roll bar and refined camber, toe, and caster settings. Together, these changes increase front-end confidence and overall agility. Additional tuning of the steering and electronic rear differential allows for a more natural response, enabling drivers to use more throttle earlier in a corner for a satisfying balance from turn-in to exit, while underlying stability boosts confidence on both road and track.

Carbon ceramic brakes come as standard. Measuring 410 mm front and 360 mm rear, the CCBs enhance braking performance and thermal capacity while reducing unsprung mass by 27 kg compared to steel discs. Drivers experience a linear response, consistent pedal, and exceptional fade resistance, with benefits to ride quality, steering feel, and dynamic handling.

The DB12 S also features the next-generation corner braking control system, which optimises the interaction between Integrated Brake Slip Control and Integrated Vehicle Control. A predictive function maintains stability while trail braking, using more rear braking performance to hold a tighter line from corner entry to apex. The system enables later, more stable braking, with torque vectoring across the rear axle, delivering precise and consistent cornering behaviour on twisting country roads, high-speed junction exits, and on the racetrack.

Aston Martin Director of Vehicle Performance, Simon Newton, said, “The technology we introduced with the DB12 now allows us exceptional scope to explore a new depth of character and capability within the same vehicle platform. With DB12 S, we have carefully engineered a host of detailed changes, which preserve signature levels of refinement, boost vehicle performance, and amplify driver engagement. Having added this greater dynamic and performance bandwidth to DB12 S, we believe this elevates the Super Tourer ethos to a thrilling new level.”

Design changes express the performance step. At the front, a new dual-element splitter and bonnet louvres serve aerodynamic and aesthetic roles. The splitter visually lowers and widens the car, generates downforce and guides airflow around the front wheel arches to stabilise the airstream and reduce lift. Gloss black or optional 2x2 twill carbon fibre bonnet louvres help extract heat from the hot-V 4.0-litre V8 while completing the more assertive frontal aspect.

Along the flanks, gloss black sill additions extend the line set by the new splitter for a ground-hugging stance. Traditional S badges appear below each side strake. Hand-made in bright or dark chrome, the forged S motif with red glass enamel offers a discreet yet enduring mark of performance. At the rear, a fixed spoiler adds drama and high-speed stability. At the same time, a new diffuser reduces lift and frames the signature stacked pairs of exhaust tailpipes within a broader bumper for maximum visual impact.

Inside, the DB12 S introduces details unique to the halo model. A red anodised finish accents the knurled metal drive-mode rotary controller and informs the colour of the seatbelts, contrast welts, stitching and headrest embroidery. Options include an Alcantara heated sports steering wheel and the iconic Aston Martin wings applied to the headrests using an industry-first blend of embossing and debossing for precision and sculptural depth.

Customers can choose from three interior environments: Accelerate, featuring leather and Alcantara; Inspire S, featuring semi-aniline leather and Alcantara; and Inspire S, featuring full semi-aniline leather. Both Inspire S packages feature S Herringbone quilting with micro-perforations and an Alcantara headlining. Standard 16-way Sport Plus electric front seats ensure comfort and support, with an optional carbon fibre Performance seat for added focus.

The DB12 S is now available to order in Coupé and Volante forms, with deliveries scheduled to commence in Q1 2026.
