Aston Martin Valkyrie Confirms 2026 WEC Driver Line-Up

The Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar will contest the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with an unchanged driver line-up after an encouraging debut season at the highest level of sports car racing.

Aston Martin THOR Team will again field British pairing Tom Gamble and Harry Tincknell in the #007 Valkyrie, with Ross Gunn supporting the crew at selected WEC rounds in 2026. Alex Riberas and Marco Sørensen will return in the #009 Valkyrie, while Roman De Angelis will step in when required. The team keeps continuity across its WEC Hypercar programme as it targets stronger results with the Le Mans Hypercar challenger.

“Throughout 2025, as the programme grew and developed, we achieved a great deal as a team, but we also learned a considerable amount,” said Aston Martin THOR Team Principal Ian James. “The drivers as a group delivered over and above what we asked from them. That included a lot of work at the very beginning that required them to dig deep. But it also means that we have generated a hugely valuable hub of understanding and knowledge about Valkyrie that will be valuable as we move into season two. As we continue to understand more about how to exploit the competitive nature of Valkyrie, it’s a great opportunity for all our drivers to use what they have learned and push on to achieve more in 2026, and we have every faith that they will.”

Aston Martin built Valkyrie as its first Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) for top-level endurance racing. Aston Martin THOR Team races the works entry, and the Valkyrie remains the only car in WEC’s premier category that takes its design from a road-legal hypercar. The programme made its global debut at the Qatar 1812km in February. It gained pace and experience through 2025, covering more than 22,000 racing miles, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with two striking green Aston Martins in the WEC Hypercar class.

Valkyrie closed its inaugural WEC season with a run of points finishes and delivered its best result of fifth overall at the 6 Hours of Fuji. Riberas also led a WEC race for the first time as he charged to the front on merit in the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain, then secured more points with seventh place to end the season. In the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship finale, the 10-hour Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in mid-October, Valkyrie claimed its first podium in global competition and finished within five seconds of a landmark maiden victory with De Angelis, Gunn and Riberas.

The team built that momentum after an encouraging 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, where both Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercars completed their first twice-around-the-clock race without issue and finished 12th and 14th. Aston Martin THOR Team also scored the first Manufacturer’s World Championship points for the cars and for Aston Martin in the Hypercar class, reinforcing the progress of the Valkyrie LMH project ahead of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship.
