bb-Auto 1986 Porsche Targa 'Streets of Gold' by Galpin
Galpin Motors unveiled its first US-built bb-Auto commission, a faith-inspired 1986 Porsche Targa known as bb-001 “Streets of Gold”, during Monterey Car Week. The car appeared at Motorlux, Werks Reunion Monterey, Casa Lee and the Monterey Motorsports Festival, drawing enthusiasts to this bespoke Porsche build.
Alexander Everest, founder of Christ and Cars and a healthcare executive, commissioned “Streets of Gold” to reflect the biblical vision of the new Heaven with gates of pearl from Revelation 21:21. The design incorporates Bible verses, while shimmering custom metallic gold paintwork evokes heaven’s streets paved with gold. The team began with a 1986 Porsche G-Body Targa chassis and transformed it with signature bb-Auto front and rear styling. They refinished every trim piece, emblem and accent to harmonise with the gold theme, ensuring no detail went overlooked.
Inside, the cabin blends artistry with symbolism for a distinctive Porsche Targa experience. The dash cluster features mother-of-pearl-backed gauges framed by 24-carat gold bezels inspired by the 12 gates of heaven. At the same time, bespoke leather Sparco seats pair with custom leather and Alcantara trimming on the pillars, windscreen header and rear quarters. Artisans carved the shift knob from acacia wood, believed to be the same material used for Noah’s Ark, creating a tangible link to the build’s spiritual roots. A custom-built Morel Elate Carbon audio system, powered by Mosconi amplifiers and paired with Focal subwoofers, delivers an immersive, golden sound for the driver’s soul.
Beneath the rear engine cover, a precisely engineered 4.0L Ed Pink Racing engine produces a naturally aspirated 400 horsepower, with hand-finished colour-matched components that echo the exterior brilliance. Dual oil coolers keep performance consistent, while Porsche Active Suspension Management provides a refined yet responsive ride. Brembo brakes supply confident stopping power, and Michelin Cup 2 tyres deliver grip on custom 18-inch HRE wheels featuring bespoke bb-Auto centre caps in a special collaboration with HRE Wheels.
“For me, the inspiration for this car came directly from the Bible,” said Everest. “I’ve commissioned many custom cars before, but none like this. Only bb-Auto could bring my vision to life. Galpin Auto Sports painted my masterpiece, and it is a rocketship! This is my passion brought to life in an amazing machine.”
