Bentley Mulliner Batur Convertible: Bespoke British Craft
Bentley’s bespoke division, Mulliner, has completed its most highly curated Batur Convertible to date. This coachbuilt Bentley marks a familiar milestone for its new owner. Batur Convertible #4 now joins a standout Bentley collection that includes a Blower Continuation Series, a Speed Six Continuation Series, and the first modern coachbuilt Bentley, the Bacalar.
The client, Sonia Breslow, specifies every detail of her commissions. She focuses on cohesive colour and material choices throughout. Mulliner pairs luxury with precision, then adds new elements that feel personal to the client. This approach highlights the craftsmanship and capability that define Bentley Mulliner's bespoke work.
Sonia Breslow comments, “As long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about cars. When I have a car like this Batur, I don't plan on selling it in my lifetime - it’s my forever car. I’m totally into the detail, and I love designing them - picking out the colours, working through every shade, every feature, making them different from everything else.”
Batur Convertible #4 leans into a refined luxury aesthetic with a tri-tone exterior in the client’s commissioned colours. A 6 mm gloss-silver fine line highlights the Batur’s ‘endless bonnet’ design. The upper shade, Breslow Blue, matches the roof canvas to create the first bespoke coloured roof. When the roof stows, it reveals the matching Airbridge in the same colour. Mulliner continues the detailing with a Midnight Breslow Blue bonnet pinstripe that matches the lower exterior paint. It also adds accent colours to the wheels and wing mirrors, then finishes the look with polished titanium exhaust finishers and bright silver grilles.
The personal touches make the car instantly recognisable in her Bentley collection. As she enters the cabin, the animated welcome lamp projects a handwritten script of her name. It uses 415,800 microscopic mirrors to shape the light into one of the most personalised features in the car.
The cabin balances that signature detail with warm autumn tones. It combines tans, caramel hues, and a familiar light blue accent that draws the bespoke Breslow Blue of the Airbridge into the interior. Contrast stitching runs from the tonneau through the seats, headrests, and instrument panel. The design also places a subtle outline of the Batur volcano, which inspired the car’s name, into the deep-pile floor mats.
Mulliner takes inspiration from early Bentleys and completes the fascia with a bright aluminium engine spin finish. The Bentley Rotating Display features bespoke-coloured faces on the three gauges and matches the satin-blue Bentley clock face. The cabin also introduces another crafted metal highlight, as Batur Convertible #4 debuts Bentley’s first use of three-dimensional printed platinum. The top-dead-centre marker on the steering wheel and each organ stop feature this precious metal, reinforcing the car’s exclusivity and innovation.
Batur Convertible #4 still delivers the performance expected of a Bentley Grand Tourer. It retains the most powerful version of Bentley’s iconic W12 engine. The hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged powertrain produces 740 bhp and delivers a grand touring drive that suits Mulliner’s flagship coachbuilt series.
Batur Convertible #4 completes a true collaboration between client and craftspeople. It brings power and elegance into a single bespoke Bentley, and it will soon take its place alongside the owner’s other Mulliner siblings.
