Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear: Road-Legal Track Hypercar
Koenigsegg unveils Sadair’s Spear, a road-legal, track-focused hypercar that marries increased power with reduced weight to redefine performance standards. Engineers have trimmed 35 kg from the chassis, upgraded the twin-turbo V8 to 1,300 hp on standard unleaded and 1,625 hp on eco-friendly E85, and paired it with the lightning-fast, flywheel-free Light Speed Transmission that spins up at 46,000 rpm per second.
A newly elongated rear and an active, top-mounted double-blade rear wing generate formidable downforce, while enlarged front canards, refined wheel-arch louvres and a Gurney-flap vent balance the airflow for precise high-speed stability. Koenigsegg’s CFD team optimised every surface to maximise cooling, ensuring the Spear maintains peak output during sustained track sessions. Exclusive seven-spoke Aircore carbon-fibre wheels, wrapped in wider, track-oriented tyres, work with bespoke lightweight springs, Triplex dampers and multi-layer carbon-ceramic brakes to deliver razor-sharp handling and relentless stopping power.
The cockpit adopts a stripped-back philosophy: redesigned carbon-fibre seats, a minimalist centre console, and reduced sound insulation save crucial kilograms. Yet, the SmartCluster display, SmartCenter interface, inductive phone charging, and Autoskin system preserve everyday usability. Standard three-point belts can be swapped for optional six-point harnesses to anchor drivers during extreme cornering, and paddle-shift control ensures gear changes are immediate and intuitive.
Christian von Koenigsegg previously honoured his father by naming the Jesko; he now commemorates Jesko’s favourite racehorse—ridden in 1976 and called Sadair’s Spear—by bestowing its name on this machine. He explains, “Sadair’s Spear represents a natural progression for Koenigsegg—an impeccable balance of raw power, refined aerodynamics, and extraordinary road presence. This car is destined to set records. Achieving such track dominance in a fully road-legal vehicle is nothing short of remarkable.”
Initial testing at Gotland Ring proved the point: Sadair’s Spear lapped 1.1 seconds quicker than the Jesko Attack, instantly resetting the circuit benchmark. With only 30 units—all sold at private unveilings—this limited-series hypercar advances Koenigsegg’s legacy as the sole manufacturer of homologated road vehicles that exceed a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, proving that uncompromising track performance and global road legality can coexist in one breathtaking package.
