Mclaren 750s JC96: Japan-only Tribute to 1996 F1 GTR
McLaren Automotive unveils the 750S JC96, a Japan-only limited edition of the McLaren 750S that honours the McLaren F1 GTRs, which contested the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship and won the Driver’s Championship in 1996. The car also celebrates McLaren’s legacy in Japan as a luxury supercar brand known for individuality and track-inspired performance. McLaren will build just 61 cars, reflecting the race number of the championship-winning F1 GTR.
As the first McLaren limited edition offered exclusively in Japan, the 750S JC96 blends unique paint inspired by the Team Goh F1 GTRs from the 1996 JGTC season with F1 GTR-influenced interior features and a new Ultra-Lightweight ‘Delta’ 15-spoke forged alloy wheel. Buyers can choose between a coupé and a Spider, and McLaren applies the 750S MSO High Downforce Kit to an open-top 750S for the first time.
The F1 GTRs that McLaren and Team Goh entered featured a distinctive Tiger Stripe design, which merged Rocket Pink with Tarmac Grey. Every 750S JC96 offers paint inspired by this livery, featuring unique details on the front splitter, rear wing endplates, and door mirror casings. Customers can specify these accents in Memphis Red, Titanium Silver, Ice White or Graphite Grey, chosen to complement a broad palette of body colours, or commission a unique finish through the MSO Bespoke paint programme.
For maximum drama, the ultra-exclusive JC96 Tribute Livery carries the Tiger Stripe treatment across the entire body. MSO hand-paints this full livery and restricts it to just four customer cars.
“The 750S JC96 is our love letter to McLaren in Japan. Our Japanese clients demand track-inspired performance but without compromising on the tailor-made personalisation and attention to detail that truly makes a McLaren their McLaren. The 750S JC96 blends these demands perfectly, while offering for the first time the enhanced track performance of the MSO HDK with the sensations delivered by a benchmark beating convertible supercar for those who opt for a 750S JC96 Spider.”
Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Automotive
The 750S JC96 adopts the MSO High Downforce Kit for 750S, now available on the 750S Spider for the first time. Inspired by the original High Downforce Kit developed for the F1 LM and evolved for the 1996-spec F1 GTR, the HDK integrates components that work together to raise aerodynamic performance. The package introduces a revised front bumper featuring an enlarged dual-element splitter, a raised active rear spoiler with integrated end plates, and a louvred under-wing panel. Together, these elements deliver up to 10% additional downforce, sharpening track performance.
McLaren debuts the Ultra-Lightweight ‘Delta’ 15-spoke forged alloy wheel on the 750S JC96, drawing inspiration from the race wheels of later-spec F1 GTR Longtail cars. The wheel pairs with F1 Gold brake callipers featuring a red McLaren logo, while a central-exit stainless steel sports exhaust with a natural titanium finish references GTR componentry.
The McLaren F1 GTR also shapes the bespoke interior. Three JC96 Performance interiors use full Alcantara® upholstery, each configured to instil the spirit of the 1996-spec F1 GTR. Every car receives an F1-inspired pedal set, Drive Select switches and a dedication plaque, all finished in gold. JC96 branding appears on the headrests and armrests, and McLaren equips these features on all 61 cars.
The standard specification underscores the car’s track-ready character. The 750S MSO HDK features a body-coloured, revised front bumper, a gloss-black, enlarged carbon fibre front splitter, a gloss-black, raised carbon fibre active rear spoiler, and a body-coloured underwing panel with gloss-black louvres. The Delta 15-spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged alloy wheels are available in Silver, and the car features F1 Gold brake callipers with a red McLaren logo. Body-colour carbon fibre front fenders with gloss black carbon fibre louvres complement a gloss black exterior details pack, featuring painted JC96 branding and accents on wing endplates, the front splitter, and mirror casings in Memphis Red, Ice White, Titanium Silver, or Graphite Grey. A central-exit stainless steel sports exhaust with a natural titanium finisher, a gloss black roof with a glazed C-pillar, a gloss black lower rear bumper and diffuser, and chrome-finish McLaren badging complete the exterior.
Inside, the JC96 Performance features a full Alcantara cabin available in Carbon Black with Carbon Black stitching, Carbon Black with Bright Red contrast stitching, or Dove Grey with Carbon Black. JC96 embroidered headrests, a gold-finish F1-inspired pedal set with JC96 branding and a gold-finish dedication plaque sit alongside gold-finish brightwork on the Drive Select switches. The armrests carry the JC96 logo. Brushed dark titanium features on the steering wheel clasp and the extended metal gearshift paddles, with matching brightwork for the infotainment surround, DNR surround, door applique and air vent bezels. The cabin also includes 12-colour ambient lighting, engine bay lighting and Alcantara® sill trim.
Beyond the MSO JC96 Tribute Livery, customers can add JC96 Exterior Details, HDK and underbody, and front and rear louvres carbon fibre packs, unique JC96 750S side badges and JC96 branding on the rear wing surface.
Every 750S JC96 customer can curate a personal specification with MSO. The MSO Interior Livery Theme Pack applies the JC96 Tiger Stripe pattern to the painted 12 O’clock marker and paddles. It can add extended carbon fibre door sills, an interior door applique and a bespoke painted vehicle key. MSO also offers F1 GTR-inspired, bespoke, painted centre caps for the Delta 15-spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged alloy wheels, as well as tailored, painted brake callipers.
An optional McLaren Track Record Plaque mounts in the front luggage compartment. This titanium plaque takes direct inspiration from the concept first seen in the McLaren F1 road car and celebrates McLaren’s landmark championship and race victories, as well as the iconic vehicles that achieved them.
The 750S JC96 fits Pirelli P ZERO™ tyres as standard, with higher-performance Pirelli P ZERO™ Corsa and track-focused Pirelli P ZERO™ Trofeo R available as options. McLaren and its exclusive tyre partner, Pirelli, engineer all three choices, and McLaren retailers also offer Pirelli P ZERO™ Winter tyres.
The McLaren 750S has earned widespread recognition for benchmark-beating supercar performance and driver engagement. Its mid-mounted M840T 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 produces 750 PS, while the lightweight carbon fibre Monocage II structure and Proactive Chassis Control III suspension help make the 750S the lightest and most agile car in its class.
