New Porsche 911 Spirit 70: Heritage Design Reimagined

Porsche has unveiled the 911 Spirit of 70, the third and most exclusive Heritage Design model, and UK enthusiasts can now order it for £187,700, including VAT. The limited-edition sports car fuses 1970s-inspired aesthetics with cutting-edge engineering, reflecting the brand’s vision to reinterpret classic design cues for a modern audience.

“The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President, Style Porsche. “The limited-edition sports cars visualise what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car.”

Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation and Classic, adds: “The limited-edition collector's items are particularly desirable for our customers worldwide. The first two models in the Heritage Design strategy have revived the lifestyle of past decades and generated considerable enthusiasm. We are delighted with this success and are now proud to present the third, highly exclusive model.”

Porsche launched the Heritage Design series in 2020 with the 911 Targa 4s Edition, which celebrated the 1950s and early 1960s. This was followed by the 2022 911 Sport Classic, limited to 1,250 cars, which revived the late-1960s and early-1970s vibe. The new 911 Spirit 70 honours that tradition while signalling an expanded customisation programme: Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur already offers more than 1,000 options, and demand has doubled in five years, prompting a planned capacity increase.

Olive Neo, a rich, deep green explicitly created for this model, sets the tone. The contrasting Bronzite paint highlights the front apron, lower rear section, and forged Fuchs-style Sport Classic wheels, while a black soft top and windscreen frame complete the striking exterior. Three black silk-gloss stripes across the bonnet recall 1970s safety decals, and matching side graphics with Porsche script and an individual start-number field – the “Lollipop” – pay homage to the brand’s racing past. A near-replica 1963 Porsche crest, gold-coloured badges and galvanised lettering emphasise the connection between heritage and innovation.

Inside, the iconic Pasha fabric pattern appears in black and Olive Neo on the 18-way Sports Seats Plus, door mirrors, and even the glove box liner. The fabric now uses modern flock yarns for greater comfort on long journeys, while Basalt Black club leather with Olive Neo stitching provides a refined backdrop. A reversible boot mat and optional Pasha trim for the dashboard and seat backs extend the motif.

The instrument cluster seamlessly blends nostalgia with technology: a 12.65-inch high-resolution display features white pointers and analogue-style scales, complemented by green digits that evoke the legendary Porsche 356. The Sport Chrono stopwatch mirrors this theme with white hands and green numerals.

Porsche Design has crafted an exclusive chronograph for owners, priced from £12,000. The titanium case houses the COSC-certified WERK 01.100 movement, visible through a sapphire back whose 360-degree rotor echoes the car’s satin-black and Bronzite wheels. The dial features the satin-gloss Pasha pattern, while Phosphorus Green and Traffic Red accents, a ‘Spirit 70’ logo and a Basalt Black leather strap with Olive Neo stitching reinforce the link between watch and car. Each chronograph bears the matching vehicle’s edition number.

From spring 2025, an Apple Vision Pro app will let users immerse themselves in the 1970s and configure their dream 911 Spirit 70 step by step. Porsche will offer the app free on the App Store to coincide with the car’s launch, deepening the digital heritage experience.

UK and Irish customers can place orders today and expect deliveries to begin in July. Porsche will invite buyers to hone their skills behind the wheel at a bespoke driving experience on the marque’s Silverstone tracks, ensuring they explore every facet of the handcrafted 911 Spirit 70.

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche created the original 911 in 1963; his desire to carry Porsche principles beyond the car led to the founding of Porsche Design in 1972. Now a wholly owned subsidiary of Porsche AG, the brand continues to build every timepiece in its Solothurn manufacture, bridging past and present through meticulous craftsmanship and timeless style.
