Nissan's GEN4 Formula E Car Redefines Electric Racing
The cherry blossom symbolises Japan, and now, thanks to the Nissan Formula E Team, it also symbolises truly competitive single-seater racing. The vibrant pink Sakura blossom has moved beyond the team's racecar livery. It now decorates the walls, uniforms and water bottles found throughout the team's headquarters, marking the sport's next moment of renewal: the all-new Formula E GEN4 car.
Nissan is developing its GEN4 car at full pace at its Viry-Châtillon headquarters in the southern suburbs of Paris. There, a dedicated team of engineers fine-tunes the car to unlock the full potential of the FIA's latest regulations as Nissan pursues further success in Season 13. British driver Oliver Rowland holds the Formula E world title after he won Season 11 with two races still to spare, and he remains a strong contender for the Season 12 crown.
Formula E GEN4 marks the fourth generation of the championship's all-electric single-seater race car, and it represents the biggest technical leap the series has taken since it began.
The GEN4 car raises the bar significantly and promises spectators an even more thrilling motorsport spectacle. Peak power climbs from 350kW (476hp) in the GEN3 Evo to 600kW (816hp) in GEN4, giving the car a huge boost in performance. It accelerates from 0 to 62mph in just 1.8 seconds and reaches 0 to 124mph in 4.4 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating race car the FIA governs. GEN4 also introduces the world's first permanent all-wheel-drive single-seater race car, and it grants each team the freedom to configure its own differential setup.
