Donkervoort P24 RS Goes Global With Right-Hand Drive Launch

The next chapter in the custom-made, lightweight Donkervoort supercar story will be global, with the boutique brand already taking orders for right-hand drive production. The blisteringly fast P24 RS is the first car in Donkervoort's 49-year history to be engineered in right-hand drive, continuing an expansion strategy that has already pushed the brand into the Middle East and the USA.

Right-hand drive engineering marks another milestone in the P24 RS story, following its ground-breaking PTC variable-output engine, its Ex-Core carbon-fibre front subframe, and its remarkable on-road performance. Managing Director Denis Donkervoort expressed enthusiasm about bringing the ultra-lightweight, driver-focused Donkervoort message to a global supercar audience, and the brand already holds orders from right-hand drive markets.

Donkervoort now offers the 600 hp, 780 kg P24 RS in right-hand drive (RHD) markets, including the United Kingdom (through Premier GT), Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.

"We are excited that we can finally show car lovers in RHD markets what Europe, the Middle East and North America have understood for a long time - that Donkervoorts prioritise driver engagement over everything else, making every drive an unforgettable event," Donkervoort said.

"Right-hand drive was an opportunity that came with the P24 RS's all-new PTC (Power To Choose) engine, and our own research and continuous phone calls and demands from potential customers demonstrated a clear demand for it.

"The Donkervoort philosophy is about putting the driver at the centre of everything the car does; from extreme lightweight technology to forgiving suspension setups to the Power To Choose engine and adjustable traction control and suspension setups," Donkervoort confirmed.

The Donkervoort story began in 1978 when legislation forced Joop Donkervoort to modify an imported car so extensively that he had to rebrand it under his own name. Since then, Donkervoort has built a reputation for relentless innovation, unfiltered feedback, extreme customisation and an obsession with ultra-lightweight engineering. Historical highlights include winning the GT4 class at the Dubai 24 Hour race, claiming the Nurburgring production car lap record with the GT, and now developing its own twin-turbocharged, 3.5-litre V6 Power To Choose engine.

Donkervoort has earned a reputation for incredible retained values, almost unlimited customisation (even for pre-owned models) and strong customer service, with more than 99% of its historical production still on the road. The brand launched the P24 RS earlier this year and is already customising specifications for buyers in the United States, Asia, the UK and Europe, covering more than 100 of the planned production run of 150 cars.

The P24 RS sits well below the one-tonne barrier at 780 kg dry and uses breakthrough custom technologies to meet safety and emissions legislation at a weight unattainable for most supercar rivals. It stands as the only 600 hp production car beneath the 1000 kg mark, and its 800 Nm PTC engine can switch in real time between 400, 500 and 600 hp. It achieves all this while retaining 298 litres of luggage capacity, the practicality of a removable Twin Targa roof, and the security of driver-adjustable power outputs, traction control and suspension settings.

The P24 RS accelerates to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.4 seconds on its way to a top speed beyond 300 km/h, and it delivers more than 2.3g of lateral acceleration in cornering. Built on a hybrid chassis of welded tubes reinforced with Ex-Core carbon-fibre inserts, the P24 RS measures 4000 mm in length and rides on a 2420 mm wheelbase.
