Pininfarina at MAUTO: 95 Years of Iconic Italian Design
The National Automobile Museum (MAUTO) in Turin dedicates a vibrant tribute to Pininfarina, marking the Italian design house’s 95th anniversary. From 17 to 23 May, the museum stages a temporary Pininfarina exhibition that guides visitors through six iconic models illustrating the brand’s stylistic and engineering evolution.
The main hall display narrates how Pininfarina balances tradition with innovation, the core of its design philosophy. Honda HP-X (1984) showcases aerodynamic ambition forged with Honda, while Sintesi (2008) imagines connected, efficient mobility. The 2uettottanta (2010) reinterprets the classic Italian roadster, and Sergio (2013) sculpts Ferrari mechanics into a purist barchetta honouring Sergio Pininfarina. Visitors then encounter the bespoke Morgan Midsummer (2024), debuting in Italy, alongside the Automobili Pininfarina Battista (2025), an electric hypercar created for the anniversary.
On 22 May, the celebration peaks with “From Legend to Future – 95 Years of Pininfarina”, an event that gathers industry, culture, and creative leaders. Stefano Buono of newcleo, Gurcan Karakas of TOGG, Jesse Chao of Foxconn, and Jay Ward of Pixar Animation Studios join moderator Maria Latella to explore how cross-disciplinary design drives innovation and sustainable vision.
Guests also enjoy an exclusive preview of the commemorative book “Pininfarina 95 – Timeless Beauty” by Luca Dal Monte, published by Giorgio Nada Editore, and the teaser for the documentary “Pininfarina. Story of a Legend”, produced and directed by Flavia Triggiani and Marina Loi for Flair Media ahead of its RAI broadcast. The film retraces the Pininfarina family and creative journey through prominent voices, archival footage, and auteur storytelling.
MAUTO positions the exhibition and celebration as both homage and outlook. “Today, Pininfarina is much more than a name in automotive. It’s a creative lab that interprets tomorrow,” said Silvio Angori, Vice Chairman and CEO. The programme confirms that the legendary Italian design house continues to shape the future of sustainable mobility and industrial creativity.
