Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe by Singer: 2025 US Preview
The Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer showcases the latest services from Singer, the California luxury specialist that restores and reimagines classic Porsche 911s in collaboration with their owners. Rob Dickinson, Singer’s Founder, Executive Chairman and Creative Director, explains: “The first Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer was shown at Monterey Car Week in 2009, and it’s been part of summer for us ever since. For 2025, we’ve brought a Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer for the first time. This year, we also passed the milestone of 500 cars in total restored and delivered back to their owners through our Classic, Classic Turbo and DLS services since Singer was founded.” Download images here.
Owners begin the restoration by sending their Porsche 911 Type 964 to Singer with a request for a personalised restoration. Technicians carefully disassemble the car, removing the interior, exterior bodywork and mechanical components until the steel monocoque appears. They assess, clean and prepare the chassis so it reaches optimal condition for the following stages. During this phase, Singer applies chassis strengthening, developed with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, to enhance the rigidity of the original Type 964 monocoque and lay the groundwork for performance and refinement.
The car shown at The Quail highlights Singer’s mastery of leatherworking. Artisans specify interiors with stitched and burnished leather seams achieved by a precise, hand-applied edge sanding and painting technique that takes around 400 hours per car. This stitch style draws from luxury leather goods and pairs in the display car with velvet corduroy cloth in Mars Pink. At the same time, the exterior presents Celeste Passalacqua for a striking contrast that suits a reimagined Porsche 911 destined for the road.
Singer’s engine team draws on deep experience with the 911 and learnings from the DLS programme, where the company created its first four-valve cylinder head. Working with Cosworth, Singer develops a revised four-valve head and focuses on variable valve timing, combustion chamber design and intake and exhaust paths. The result introduces multiple firsts for a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer. It becomes the first to feature variable valve timing to improve drivability at low speeds and power at high revs, and the first naturally aspirated unit restored by Singer to combine water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders and an electrically powered fan informed by the DLS Turbo programme.
These advances help the 4.0-litre flat six develop 420 hp and broaden torque across a wider rev range, enabling more owners in more countries to restore their cars through Singer’s services. The engine revs beyond 8000 rpm, and an optimised six-speed manual gearbox can be specified to send power to the rear wheels. Drivers can choose a raised gear shifter with an exposed mechanism to underline the engineering craftsmanship. A newly developed titanium exhaust system frees the flat six to breathe and delivers the famous soundtrack enthusiasts expect from a reimagined Porsche 911.
“In the 1980s, you could order a new 911 Carrera with the pumped-up bodywork of the Turbo but powered by the company’s latest, naturally aspirated flat six. It became known as the Carrera with Super Sport Equipment. Our services reference this car and celebrate the era with a vision for an ultimate, naturally aspirated, G model 911, reimagined for the twenty-first century. At its heart is a remarkable flat-six, bringing together our learnings from the last fifteen years, and adding variable valve timing for the first time.”
On behalf of the owners, Singer teams with Red Bull Advanced Technologies to increase the strength and torsional rigidity of the original 964 chassis during restoration. Using world-class simulation and structural analysis, Red Bull Advanced Technologies devises a strengthening system with composite and steel reinforcement applied to the monocoque at the start of the process. The original Type 964 structure remains central to the car, now augmented to provide an optimised foundation that benefits handling, braking and overall refinement.
Singer balances heritage and cutting edge through extensive use of carbon fibre, aligning iconic 1980s G model cues with modern engineering and materials science. The reimagined bodywork reduces mass and raises stiffness to sharpen dynamic responses in a way Singer clients value. Inspired by period Super Sport Equipment, the carbon fibre body accommodates wider front and rear bodywork. A deep front spoiler manages cooling and airflow, while intakes in the leading edges of the rear wings direct air to the engine compartment for thermal control.
Owners may specify the 911 Carrera with or without the famous whale tail rear wing, as in period. A fixed wing or a speed-activated wing manages airflow over the rear for stability at speed. High-performance auxiliary driving lights can also be specified. They rise from the front bonnet when activated and fold down flush when not in use, preserving the clean lines of the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe.
Singer enhances ground-covering ability by pairing engine performance with sophisticated suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres. Suspension developed for Singer’s turbocharged services underpins compliant, sporting handling. New four-way adjustable dampers with electronic control can be set from the driver’s seat and include a nose-lift system for everyday usability. Carbon-ceramic brakes, developed through DLS services, may be specified behind 18-inch centre-lock wheels to deliver deep reserves of stopping power on road and track.
Modern tyre technology transforms traction and feel. The latest Michelin Pilot Sport tyres help the restored Porsche 911 transmit power effectively. The driver can choose from five modes, Road, Sport, Track, Off and Weather, to tailor traction control and electronic stability control to conditions and personal preference. This integrated approach supports confident progress when the road opens and the flat six sings.
Inside, Singer’s restoration and modification services allow owners to personalise every detail through bespoke paint, leather and materials. Lightweight sports or track seats can be requested to achieve an ideal driving position, especially when paired with the raised gear shifter mechanism. The familiar 911 instrument layout returns reimagined, with hand-built gauges that bring high-watchmaking standards into the cabin. Singer’s traditional leatherworking techniques now extend stitched and burnished seams throughout, while discreet technology integrates navigation and phone connectivity with restraint.
As with every Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, the car featured here has been personalised by its owner. For a touring focus, an example specification pairs a Type 964 chassis with lightweight carbon fibre bodywork in Celeste Passalacqua and a speed-activated rear wing, a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat six with four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing, a six-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, a carbon-ceramic braking system, 18-inch centre-lock wheels in white, an interior finished in Mars Pink with stitched and burnished leather seams, sports seats with velvet corduroy centres, and air conditioning, navigation and CarPlay connectivity. For ultimate freedom of choice, the owner can specify both sets of front and rear bodywork with a bespoke flight case so the car’s configuration can change as required.
Each restoration remains unique. Every owner shares personal preferences and requirements for bespoke engineering while working with Singer to personalise their own 911. Prices for Singer’s restoration services depend on the specification requested by each car’s owner, and the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer will be limited to 100 commissions. This exclusivity underlines the appeal of a restored Porsche 911 that blends craftsmanship, performance and heritage.
