Porsche Opens Eighth Charging Lounge in South Baden
Porsche has opened a new Porsche Charging Lounge in Ringsheim, Ortenau, just off the A5 near Europapark Rust, in time for the summer holidays. The brand-exclusive fast-charging hub delivers up to 400 kW, handles billing via the Porsche Charging Service, and creates a relaxed stopover for both car and driver.
Located close to the autobahn and about 40 kilometres from Freiburg im Breisgau, the site suits business travellers, holidaymakers and families alike. Drivers can now link Porsche Charging Lounges to plan routes across Europe for the first time, for example, from Bingen via Ringsheim to Nyon.
The Ringsheim facility is the eighth exclusive Porsche location, joining Bingen am Rhein, Estenfeld near Würzburg, Hamburg, Ingolstadt, Koblach in Austria, Leonberg and Nyon in Switzerland. Each lounge focuses on rapid DC fast charging and premium amenities that match the Porsche brand.
The new site operates around the clock and provides six DC fast-charging points that can each deliver up to 400 kW simultaneously. Owners of fully electric Porsche models can exploit their cars’ full fast-charging potential here. A current-generation Taycan charges from 10 to 80 per cent state of charge in around 18 minutes, while a Macan completes the same step in approximately 21 minutes.
Porsche also elevates comfort at the stop. Outside, roofed seating with integrated speakers invites a breather. Inside, comfortable lounge chairs, soft drinks and snacks, a coffee machine, a water dispenser and two modern washrooms make the visit easy. Capable Wi-Fi supports work and streaming on the go.
Through the Porsche Charging Service, customers gain access to charging points from multiple providers worldwide. In Europe alone, the service connects more than 900,000 charging points across 26 countries, including almost 85,000 DC points rated above 150 kW. The network consists of more than 750 IONITY fast-charging stations with around 5,000 charging points. Alongside IONITY, Aral Pulse serves as a Preferred Partner, and Fines Charging has joined as a new Preferred Partner in Bulgaria. Customers with Porsche Charging Service Plus can charge at Fines Charging for €0.39 per kWh.
Reaching a Porsche Charging Lounge remains straightforward. Lounges appear in Porsche Communication Management and in the My Porsche app with a gold-coloured icon. Access requires a Porsche ID. Drivers can link their car’s number plate to the Porsche ID in the My Porsche app, enabling automatic barrier opening via number plate recognition. Alternatively, they can enter using a Porsche Charging Card or a QR code from the app. The Porsche Charging Service settles payment centrally after each stop, with ad-hoc payment available on request.
