Porsche opens Leonberg Charging Lounge with 400 kW boost

Porsche has opened the Porsche Charging Lounge Leonberg near Stuttgart, expanding its exclusive fast‑charging network to six sites across Germany and Austria. Other lounges operate in Bingen am Rhein, Estenfeld near Würzburg, Ingolstadt, Hamburg and Koblach.

The Leonberg facility sits close to the A8–A81 junction, so drivers conveniently join or leave either motorway in any direction. The stop lies roughly fifteen kilometres from Stuttgart and twenty‑five from Pforzheim, making it ideal for holiday or business travel. Electric Porsche models enjoy round‑the‑clock access to six DC fast‑charging points that deliver up to 400 kW. A current‑generation Taycan charges from 10 to 80 per cent in only 18 minutes, and the new Macan Electric completes the same boost in 21 minutes, enabling rapid onward journeys.

Porsche pairs this performance with comfort. Outside, landscaped seating with recessed speakers invites a break, while inside the lounge offers armchairs, chilled drinks and snacks, a coffee machine, filtered water, high‑speed Wi‑Fi and spotless washrooms, all framed by soothing countryside views.

The Porsche Charging Service manages payment seamlessly. Drivers tap into over 900,000 charging points across over twenty‑five European countries, including about 75,000 high‑power units above 150 kW. The network consists of more than 740 IONITY hubs with roughly 4,900 connectors. Preferred partner Aral Pulse now contributes over 3,000 fast‑charging points across Germany, and Porsche Charging Service Plus customers pay only €0.39/kWh there instead of the usual €0.69/kWh.

Studio F.A. Porsche shaped the modular architecture already proven in Hamburg for Leonberg’s site. Steel, stainless steel, wood and stone dominate the structure, and partners in Baden‑Württemberg manufacture the modules using renewable electricity. A heat pump regulates temperature, rooftop photovoltaics provide part of the power, and a digital building‑management system trims consumption by dimming lights when no guests remain.

Finding a Porsche Charging Lounge stays simple: the Porsche Communication Management system and the My Porsche app highlight each location with a gold icon. A Porsche ID unlocks both the charging bays and the lounge. When drivers link their number plates in the app, automatic recognition lifts the barrier; a Porsche Charging Card or QR code offers another entry route. After every charging session, the Porsche Charging Service consolidates billing, though ad‑hoc payment remains available for occasional stops.
