HORSE Introduces Advanced Range Extender Powertrains, Boosting EV Range and Reducing Emissions

HORSE, a global pioneer in low-emission systems, unveils its cutting-edge Range Extender powertrains. This innovation leads with a 200km EV-only range, enhanced by an additional 600km from the engine, achieving a groundbreaking 800km total range. Ideal for extended travel, this technology facilitates seamless access to low-emission zones.

The system's high-voltage battery, approximately half the size of standard EV batteries, offers substantial cost reductions and minimises dependency on critical minerals. It efficiently maintains the battery's charge through a 50kW electric generator for passenger vehicles and 80kW for commercial vehicles, optimising the electric drive motor's performance.

Patrice Haettel, CEO of HORSE, emphasises the diversity in consumer needs and technical requirements across global markets, stating, "Our new Range Extender technology allows for driving in purely electric mode in urban low-emission zones. The Range Extender can add an extra 600km for longer journeys, ensuring effortless travel with unparalleled efficiency."

Unlike traditional Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), the Range Extender's combustion engine does not drive the wheels directly. Still, it operates optimally within a high-efficiency rev range, significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The vehicle's battery can be charged using public or home charging points. When powered by low-carbon fuels, the lifecycle emissions of a Range Extender vehicle rival those of long-range EVs, offering an eco-friendly alternative.

Designed for versatility, HORSE’s Range Extender technology integrates smoothly into any vehicle architecture, whether EV-specific or conventional combustion designs. The compact battery size enhances vehicle design efficiency, making it a prime choice for modern automotive engineering.

Established as a leader in high-efficiency, low-emission engines and technologies, HORSE operates out of eight production plants in seven countries, with three R&D centres and a Madrid-based head office, delivering over 3.2 million units annually to a global clientele.
