Rolls-Royce presents Cullinan Cosmos, a one-of-one commission that celebrates the drama of outer space. A family who shares a passion for the universe with their four-year-old son commissioned this bespoke Rolls-Royce SUV, and the marque brought the theme to life through a constellation of tailored details. At its centre, the brand unveils a first for Rolls-Royce, a hand-painted Starlight Headliner meticulously created by an in-house artist over 160 hours to elevate the Cullinan experience.
The exterior palette evokes the outer limits. Craftspeople finish the Cullinan Cosmos in shimmering Arabescato Pearl, which recalls moonlight across a midnight sky. They apply a hand-painted twin coachline in Charles Blue and fit an Illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy that glows at night like a distant star, enhancing the presence of this luxury SUV and reinforcing its bespoke character.
The interior suite explores inner space with a calm, meditative atmosphere inspired by the stillness of deep space. Reclining seats in Charles Blue and Grace White leather feature matching Grace White contrast stitching and piping for a refined, modern look. Piano White veneers add a crisp, technical edge that subtly echoes the high-gloss surfaces of satellite casings, underscoring the craftsmanship associated with Rolls-Royce Bespoke design.
The commissioning clients collaborated with Rolls-Royce designers to develop a unique Star Cluster motif. This pattern appears as bespoke embroidery on the door panels and headrests, and as a hand-painted artwork on the front passenger fascia, uniting the cabin in a coherent celestial theme that emphasises personalised luxury.
The hand-painted Starlight Headliner marks new horizons for the marque. An in-house artist spent more than 160 hours painting the ethereal Milky Way entirely freehand, colour-graded to complement the bespoke interior palette. To create luminous cloud formations, the artist layered more than 20 successive applications of acrylic paint with a variety of brushes, building depth and dimension for an authentic cosmic effect.
To achieve the soft mist, the artist selected an unexpected tool—a makeup brush—which allowed the lightest pigments to settle delicately on contact. The shimmering field of painted stars emerged from a mix of fine, pointed brushes and a speckling technique, giving the final composition an organic, celestial quality that feels alive from every seat.
After sealing the painting on the Starlight Headliner, artisans individually punched and positioned the fibre-optic perforations by hand, following the contours of the artwork. This precise integration of light and paint creates a seamless galaxy above the occupants, a signature of Rolls-Royce craftsmanship and innovation in bespoke luxury.
