Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition: Ultimate 2025 Sports Car
Toyota introduces the 2025 GR Supra range with two halo models: the limited-run Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition and the motorsport-inspired GR Supra Lightweight EVO. Both variants sharpen the sports car’s celebrated balance and raise performance for drivers who crave pure engagement.
Built as a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive coupé, the Toyota GR Supra achieves the “golden ratio” of wheelbase to track, allowing it to change direction with instinctive precision. Engineers perfected its low centre of gravity, adaptive variable suspension and rigid chassis at the Nürburgring, where Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda—known on track as Master Driver Morizo—confirmed its poise.
As the first global model from TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, the GR Supra embodies TGR’s principle of testing cars to the limit of endurance in competition. The team’s mantra—“roads build people, and people build cars”—ensures every component earns its place through relentless motorsport scrutiny.
Since launch, the sports car has evolved from its original three-litre turbocharged inline six and rapid eight-speed automatic to include a lighter two-litre option and, from 2022, a bespoke six-speed intelligent manual gearbox. Each powertrain delivers linear torque and a vivid throttle response, enabling drivers to exploit the Supra's chassis fully.
Inside, a two-seat cockpit with deep-hip-hugging seats, knee padding and a double-bubble roof keeps the driver locked in and reduces drag. Underfloor aero work and a carefully contoured boot lid add stability at speed, while premium materials underscore the coupé’s athlete-focused character.
The GR Supra honours its lineage on both circuit and road. Privateers race the GR Supra GT4 at iconic venues worldwide, and competition versions contest Super GT, drifting series and NASCAR, sustaining a heritage that began with earlier Supra generations.
TGR channels that racecraft into the Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition. Revised engine mapping, a freer-flowing intake and low-back-pressure catalyst lift output to 441 DIN hp and 571 Nm, pushing top speed to 275 km/h. An Akrapovič titanium exhaust amplifies the straight-six soundtrack. KW dampers with 16 rebound and 12 compression settings, stiffer anti-roll bars, enhanced differential control and wider Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres on lightweight 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels deliver razor-sharp turn-in and massive grip. Larger Brembo brakes with stainless-steel lines provide confident stopping, while upgraded radiators, diff cooling fins, and an oil pan baffle safeguard reliability under high G-loads. Carbon-fibre aero—canards, front spoiler, bonnet duct, and a GT4-style swan-neck rear wing—balances downforce, and a distinctive matt black finish completes the package. RECARO Podium CF seats, red belts, and Alcantara® trim remind occupants that Toyota will build only 300 examples worldwide.
The GR Supra Lightweight EVO, also available in manual and three-litre variants, strips mass and heightens feedback. Stiffer control-arm bearings, retuned dampers, recalibrated differential software, and revised front camber create quicker steering and a more neutral balance. Larger Brembo discs, aluminium anti-roll bar brackets and a stronger under-body brace boost braking stamina and chassis cohesion. New aero elements—a carbon-fibre ducktail spoiler, wheel-arch flaps and taller tyre spats—optimise downforce. Matte black 19-inch alloys and Alcantara® sports seats with GR logos seal the purposeful look. European enthusiasts can now order the Lightweight EVO.
Supra means “above” in Latin, and the name has soared through five generations. The A40 of 1978 introduced the inline six; the A60 of 1981 added pop-up headlights and flared arches; the independent A70 of 1986 adopted aluminium double-wishbone suspension and a turbo, opening the door to WRC and touring-car success. The A80 of 1993, famed for its giant rear wing, became a drifting icon and a Nürburgring training partner for Akio Toyoda, who says: “Supra is like an old friend that holds a special place in my heart.”
After a 17-year gap, the fifth-generation A90 returned in 2019, its creation inspired by the dramatic FT-1 concept and forged during countless Nürburgring laps. “The new GR Supra is fun to drive and better than ever,” Toyoda declares. With the 2025 GR Supra A90 Final Edition and Lightweight EVO, Toyota extends that promise, offering enthusiasts an even more thrilling chapter in the Supra story.
