Dacia Marks Eight-Millionth Car as Bigster SUVs Debut

Dacia reached a historic landmark on Thursday, 24 April 2025, when the Mioveni factory in Romania built its eight millionth vehicle, an Indigo Blue Dacia Bigster. The plant turns out a car every fifty-five seconds and completes 1,357 vehicles each day. Since opening on August 20, 1968, the 355,000-square-metre Romanian car plant has driven the brand’s growth, beginning with the production of the Dacia 1100 under the Renault R8 licence. During the following three decades, assembly teams focused on models developed from the Renault 12 licence, including the Dacia 1300, 1310, and derivatives such as the “1310 Sport”, “1320”, “1325”, and the Pick-Up. Between 1969 and 2006, workers produced nearly 2.3 million units, including 319,000 commercial vehicles.

In 1995, Dacia engineers unveiled the Nova, a wholly Romanian design that later evolved into the SupeRNova and Solenza. Renault Group assumed control in 1999 and, five years later, launched the groundbreaking Logan. Since that first car left the line, six generations have succeeded one another. The Dacia Duster holds the current production record. Introduced in 2010 and now on its third generation, the SUV has surpassed 2.6 million units. The newest Duster combines a bolder look with improved comfort, additional cabin space, and updated technology.

The latest model to enter series production is the Dacia Bigster. The spacious C-SUV embodies the brand’s robust, value-driven ethos and already disrupts the segment, with more than 13,000 European orders before cars even reach showrooms. UK drivers will receive their first Bigsters next month, and retailers will offer test drives within weeks.
