Zagato and Alfa Romeo Triumph at 2025 Villa d'Este Concours

Atelier Zagato dominated the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, taking both the coveted Best of Show and the Design Award—honours that confirm more than a century of Milanese ingenuity built on aerodynamic efficiency, lightness and performance. The Alfa Romeo Tipo B, or P3, proudly bearing Scuderia Ferrari shields, secured Best of Show 2025. Ugo Zagato originally bodied this Grand Prix icon, and his grandson, Andrea Zagato, still leads the atelier, defending a legacy where “form follows function.” That philosophy also drives the Alfa Romeo 8C DoppiaCoda Zagato, winner of the Design Award.

The knowledgeable Villa d’Este audience selected the 8C DoppiaCoda, a one-off built entirely in-house on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione platform for an Italian collector. The coupé revives Zagato’s short-wheelbase “Monza” silhouette while fusing the signature Kamm-tail with a rounded tail, creating an unprecedented rear that captured universal acclaim.

The connection between Alfa Romeo and Atelier Zagato strengthened further when the 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B (P3) lifted the BMW Group Trophy for Best of Show. Designed by Vittorio Jano, this pioneering single-seater transformed 1930s Grand Prix racing. The Auriga Collection in Germany now preserves the impeccably maintained car, one of several Scuderia Ferrari commissions from the Milan coachbuilder. A beautifully presented BMW 507 completed the honours, earning the Coppa d’Oro by popular vote.

With these successes, Alfa Romeo and Atelier Zagato reaffirm their status as global ambassadors of Made in Italy excellence, demonstrating that visionary design and engineering from Milan continue to set the standard at the world’s most prestigious concours.
