Zoute Concours Auction: Iconic Motorsport Cars by Broad Arrow

Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty company (NYSE: HGTY), presents an exciting selection of iconic motorsport collector cars at its inaugural Zoute Concours Auction. The sale takes place on 10 October 2025 at Approach Golf in Knokke-Heist, in collaboration with Zoute Grand Prix Car Week, and features more than 75 highly collectable classics that appeal to both motorsport and classic car collectors worldwide.

The lineup stars the BMW 3.0 CSL Group 2, which won the 1976 24 Hours of Spa and took a Le Mans class victory the same year (estimate: €500,000–€600,000). When BMW set out to turn its CS coupé into a racing great, it created the lightweight 3.0 CSL, nicknamed the ‘Batmobile’ for its aero package. The model dominated the European Touring Car Championship in the 1970s, winning five titles, thanks to its 300 hp high-revving straight-six engine, low mass, and superb handling. A Belgian BMW dealership prepared this example for the 1976 season; it debuted at Zandvoort in the Netherlands Touring Car Championship, then rose from the back of the grid at Le Mans to finish 24th and first in Group 2. An all-Belgian crew then charged through the Spa 24 Hours field to seize the lead in the final hours and take the chequered flag. Sold at the end of 1976, it continued to compete in hill climbs and historic events, including the Monza Historic, Zoute Grand Prix, and Spa Classic. The current owner, who acquired it in 2011, has maintained it diligently and commissioned a complete engine rebuild in 2018–2019. It appears in its Spa-winning livery and qualifies for major historic racing, including the Le Mans Classic.

Ferrari enthusiasts will note a 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona prepared to Group 4 competition specification (estimate: €800,000–€1,000,000). Delivered new in Paris, chassis 13213 began life as a road-going GT before its second owner added period competition upgrades. In 1983, its third and long-term owner commissioned a complete Group 4 conversion by l’Autofficina Sauro Mingarelli of Bologna and Carrozzeria Egidio Brandol of Montale. In 2023, the car received a livery that pays homage to the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, which won the GTS class at the 1974 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Dominique Bardini and Cyril Grandet. The Daytona model is accompanied by a history report, with F features and FIA passports valid until 2034, making it eligible for prestigious classic car events.

Rally icons include a 1974 Lancia Stratos HF converted to Group 4 specification (estimate: €600,000–€800,000). Marcello Gandini’s radical Bertone design stunned the Turin Motor Show in 1971 and soon conquered the rally world, delivering Lancia three consecutive World Rally Championship titles from 1974 to 1976. To homologate Group 4, Lancia built 492 Stradale road cars with Ferrari V6 engines. Delivered in 1974, this Stradale soon received Group 4 upgrades and went on to enjoy a successful rally career, including a victory in the 1982 Italian Rally Championship. It later tackled the Tour de Corse Historique and Rally Circuit Côte d’Azur. Now wearing its iconic Pirelli livery, it has been fully restored and carefully maintained within a significant collection, accompanied by a substantial history file featuring superb period action photography.

The 1976 Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Group 4 (estimate: €320,000–€380,000) signals a golden era for Fiat in world rallying. The 131 Abarth won on its 1976 European Rally Championship debut and carried Fiat to WRC Constructors’ titles in 1977, 1978 and 1980, with Walter Röhrl taking one of his two Drivers’ crowns in the model. Fiat built just 46 works 131 Abarth rally cars; chassis 131AR2045674 competed in the 1977 World Rally Championship with crews including Fulvio Bachelli/Francesco Rosetti and Markku Alén/Ilkka Kivimäki. The car now wears period-correct Olio Fiat Works colours from Rally Portugal 1977 and benefits from an extensive restoration to original factory condition, recently completed by the current owner, leaving it both highly collectable and in pristine concours order.

Another works legend arrives in the shape of the 1989 Lancia Delta HF Integrale 8V Martini Lancia Works “Safari” Group A (estimate: €300,000–€400,000). Jorge Recalde and Jorge Del Buonoin campaigned this car on the gruelling 1989 Marlboro Safari Rally in Kenya, and it remains in its 1989 Martini Lancia livery. After serving as a practice car for Miki Biasion, it entered private ownership in 1990 and has stayed remarkably original. It stands as a wonderfully preserved piece of Group A history, ready for classic rally stages around the world.

Collectors of Group B machinery can target the rare 1985 Citroën BX 4TC (estimate: €100,000–€150,000), offered without reserve. Group B defined the 1980s rallying era with the Audi S1 quattro, Lancia Delta S4, and Peugeot 205 T16, drawing crowds with their colossal power and sound. Citroën joined the fray in 1986 with the BX 4TC, which featured widened bodywork, integrated spotlights, and a 2.2-litre inline-four engine delivering 200 hp to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. It brought drama while retaining road-car features, such as five doors, Citroën’s hydro-pneumatic suspension, and Jaeger instruments. The FIA ended Group B soon after, and of the 200 cars produced, Citroën sold only 86, with the remainder destroyed, which makes the BX 4TC exceptionally scarce.

Chassis XL3024 adds extra allure. Citroën gifted it to racing all-rounder Jean-Pierre Beltoise in 1988. He kept it until 2005, when it was removed from his collection. The car has never been registered and shows only 180 km, making it a pristine and fascinating collector's piece from one of rallying’s most thrilling eras.

“It is always exciting to present motorsport legends with such amazing provenance,” says Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for Broad Arrow’s EMEA Region and a gentleman racer in his own right. “The BMW 3.0 CSL with its 24 Hours of Spa and Le Mans history will be a star of any motorsport collection, and the rally cars in our Zoute Concours Auction have conquered the world’s toughest rally stages. Not only are these cars extremely desirable collector cars, equally exciting is that they are all ready to continue doing what they were engineered to do — go racing.”

“These are some of the greatest circuit and rally cars of their respective eras,” says Gregory Tuytens, Head of Consignments in Belgium and the Netherlands for Broad Arrow. “Their fantastic stories, many with direct connections to Belgium, make their inclusion in the prestigious Zoute Concours Auction even more special, which is very exciting for local and international collectors alike.”
