Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Hunts São Paulo and Mosport Podiums
Aston Martin Vantage GT3 roars back into FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship combat this weekend, intent on turning blistering pace into silverware. Interlagos hosts only its fifth WEC appearance in the modern era, yet Vantage already boasts three class victories and four runner-up finishes there, including a podium earlier this season. On 13 July, the latest Vantage GT3 contests the LMGT3 category of the 6 Hours of São Paulo, where The Heart of Racing and Racing Spirit of Léman aim to extend that record.
Team principal Ian James, Zach Robichon and Mattia Drudi pilot the #27 THOR entry and expect at least a repeat of last year’s second place. After finishing sixth, fifth, and fourth in 2025, the crew believes a podium is overdue and will attack from the outset.
Racing Spirit of Léman strengthens its #10 Aston Martin with American Anthony McIntosh alongside Eduardo Barrichello and factory ace Valentin Hasse-Clot. Fresh from a Pro-Am podium at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and competitive IMSA outings, McIntosh substitutes for Derek De Boer, who returns for the Circuit of the Americas round on 5–7 September.
While one THOR squad battles in Brazil, another campaigns the new-generation Vantage GT3 in IMSA’s all-GT event at Mosport. Casper Stevenson, buoyed by a last-gasp triumph at Watkins Glen, sits just 60 points shy of the GTD championship lead. With James Gamble on Interlagos duty, two-time Mosport class winner Roman De Angelis partners Stevenson, bringing further Aston Martin Valkyrie GTP pedigree to the #27 garage.
“Vantage GT3 continues to go from strength to strength,” declared Aston Martin Head of Endurance Motorsport Adam Carter. “It proved to be an outstanding choice for our partner teams in the recent 24 Hours of Spa, where it achieved two class wins and another class podium. In IMSA, it was victorious in the previous round at Watkins Glen. In WEC, the pace has been there, if not the results. Aston Martin has a strong record at Interlagos, and there is every reason for us to head to São Paulo in an optimistic frame of mind, with a podium finish an obvious target for both of our partner teams.”
Derived from the marque’s most focused road-going sports car, the race-bred Vantage GT3 marries a bonded aluminium chassis to a thunderous twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8. Its 2025 résumé already features multiple class wins at Spa, victory at Watkins Glen and a Nürburgring podium, underlining why Aston Martin’s partner teams expect it to challenge for class honours again in São Paulo and Mosport.
