Maserati MCXtrema Stars at 24 Hours of Spa 2025 Parade

Maserati storms into the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa 2025, launching the week that precedes round three of the Pirelli GT2 European Series and marking another milestone on its road to a hundred years in racing.

The Maserati MCXtrema, a track-only flagship, serves as the official Leading Car. Its special livery honours the twentieth anniversary of the MC12’s breakthrough Spa victory in 2005, achieved by Michael Bartels, Timo Scheider and Eric van de Poele in capricious Ardennes weather. Maserati repeated the feat in 2006 and 2008, cementing the MC12’s place in motorsport lore.

Two decades later, Andrea Bertolini pilots the MCXtrema at the head of the traditional city-centre parade. Thousands of eager fans fill every kerb from Spa-Francorchamps to the town centre as the limited-edition super sports car sets the tone for the world’s most fantastic GT race.

The elegant blue-and-black colours recall Vitaphone Racing’s successful MC12 GT1, which claimed three Spa wins and two runner-up finishes on the circuit often called the university of motorsport. A bold silver trident dominates the bonnet, while discreet lettering along the doors and tail spells out famous Maserati models, celebrated drivers and legendary circuits, blending heritage with fresh ambition.

Racing action begins with round three of the GT2 European Series. DINAMIC Motorsport fields the No. 7 Maserati GT2 for Roberto Pampanini and Mauro Calamia in Pro-Am, and LP Racing campaigns the No. 1 car for Philippe Prette in Am. Both crews aim to extend Maserati’s winning momentum.

Throughout the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa weekend, Maserati supplies every official support vehicle via its partnership with SRO Motorsports Group. The fleet spans the MCXtrema, GT2 Stradale, MC20 and two Grecale SUVs: a Trofeo with a 530-CV Nettuno V6 and a fully electric Folgore.

Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse, states: “Celebrating together with the MCXtrema the twentieth anniversary of the MC12’s first historic victory at the 24 Hours of Spa is not only a tribute to past triumphs but also marks a significant step towards our centenary in motorsport. It embodies Maserati's spirit of constant innovation, passion and performance and brings our racing DNA to life on the track.”

Maserati now focuses on the Spa-Francorchamps showdown and the countdown to its 2026 racing centenary. The journey began in 1926 when Alfieri Maserati steered the Tipo 26, the first car to wear the Trident, to a class win in the Targa Florio. After igniting Monaco’s streets last month, the brand returns to Spa to continue a century-long tradition of turning racing technology into road-car excellence.
