McMurtry Spéirling PURE Makes Its Production Debut at The Quail
McMurtry will reveal the new details and proportions of the production Spéirling PURE for the first time. The car features 95% new components compared with the prototype models, and it delivers genuinely accessible F1-level performance that drivers of any skill level can enjoy, with a strong focus on plug-and-play ownership.
After appearing at The Quail, the Spéirling PURE will head to Laguna Seca Raceway on 15th August for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion. McMurtry co-founder and Managing Director Thomas Yates will attend both events. In the weeks that follow, McMurtry will display the Spéirling PURE at several of its American dealer partners and tracks, with further details to follow soon.

McMurtry has made substantial upgrades in the move from prototype to production, and the finished Spéirling PURE electric hyper track car reflects relentless research and development. The team increased battery capacity to 100kWh, up from the 60kWh units used in prototypes, using Molicel P50B NCA 21700 cells, and this boosts overall running time. A standardised, modular McMurtry battery design also builds in scope for future upgrades. Engineers increased regenerative braking energy recovery to up to 200kW at all states of charge, and they fitted new Helix drive motors with additional torque, paired with an upgraded gearbox. The team also moved the powertrain cooling system from the rear to the front of the car, which improves both efficiency and aerodynamics. Although the production Spéirling PURE has grown slightly to accommodate the larger 100kWh battery, airflow across the car and through its rear tunnels remains much cleaner.
McMurtry introduced new exterior and interior designs that stay true to the original Spéirling philosophy. A new carbon fibre monocoque meets global motorsport safety standards, accommodates the larger battery, and enhances cabin space with more elbow and leg room. It also improves ingress and egress through a wider door opening and repositions the A-pillar for a wider field of view. The team increased the wheelbase from 2m to 2.2m to accommodate the new 100kWh battery, and they hinged the secondary door with wider hinge spacing, which further aids ingress and egress. A swan-neck-style rear wing incorporates a boot compartment underneath for a helmet and a HANS device. Headlights now allow for evening and night-time track running, and the car gains track-day safety features, including indicators, hazard lights, brake lights, and a main-beam flash.
McMurtry refined the Downforce-on-Demand™ system with new, more durable fan blades, new fan motors, and a revised cooling design, and relocated the overall assembly to improve the centre of gravity. The team also improved the durability and travel of the under-car downforce skirt so that it can perform for thousands of kilometres. An onboard air compressor now forms part of the Downforce-on-Demand™ skirt system, and the skirt can retract independently for trailer loading and slow-speed manoeuvring, such as in the pits; Spéirling prototypes previously required an external air bottle to pre-charge the system.
On the suspension and steering side, McMurtry increased suspension articulation and raised the nominal ride height by 20% when in use. The car now runs off-the-shelf slick Michelin tyres that are 11% wider at the front and 3% wider at the rear, with the sidewall height increased by 15mm at the front and rear to improve compliance. McMurtry replaced the electric power steering system with a hydraulic power-assisted system that uses Formula 1-style valving for lighter steering and increased driver feedback, and it offers electronically adjustable dampers as an optional extra.
McMurtry will produce no more than 100 examples of the Spéirling PURE, and first customer deliveries begin later in 2026.
The production Spéirling PURE accelerates from 0 to 60mph in 1.55 seconds with one-foot roll-out, and it generates cornering and braking forces of 3g each. It reaches a top speed of 190mph (305km/h) and produces up to 2000kg (4400lbs) of downforce from 0mph, with 1000bhp on tap. The car measures 3815mm (150.2") in length, 1795mm (70.7") in width and 1056mm (41.6") in height, with a 2200mm (86.6") wheelbase. It covers a distance of 40 to 50km at LMP2 race-car pace, and it charges from 20% to 95% in 20 to 60 minutes, depending on ambient temperature and charger capacity. Traction control and an anti-lock braking system provide driver aids, while air conditioning (optional), a custom-moulded seat, and adjustable pedals and steering wheel support driver comfort. The car rides on off-the-shelf Michelin slicks available worldwide, with 30/68-18 Michelin Pilot Sport GT S8M tyres at the front and 31/71-18 at the rear, and it stops using 390mm x 34mm vented carbon ceramic discs with Brembo six-piston callipers. Buyers can choose from extensive exterior and interior personalisation options. The chassis and bodywork use a carbon composite, single-seat, closed cockpit design that accommodates drivers up to 201cm (6ft 7") tall, and the 100kWh lithium-ion battery uses Molicel P50B NCA 21700 cells. A twin-motor, rear-wheel-drive configuration with an e-differential powers the car, which weighs around 1,350kg (2,980 lbs), depending on options. Owners can operate the car trackside with just a driver and a technician or a competent friend, or opt for full factory support. The Spéirling PURE qualifies for competition in GT1 Sports Club, Global Time Attack (USA) and European Time Attack Masters (Nürburgring GP and other circuits), and it costs £995k (around $1.3m or €1.15m) plus local taxes, shipping and options.
