ABT Sportsline Enters 2025 DTM With Lamborghini Charge

ABT Sportsline kicks off the 2025 DTM season at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on 26–27 April, ushering in a new era with Lamborghini machinery. The Bavarian squad swaps Audi for the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, injecting Italian flair into Germany’s flagship racing series after 25 years of four-ring success.

“Exactly 75 years ago, my father, Johann Abt, competed in his first car race,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the ABT Group. “Since then, motor racing in all its facets has been part of our company. We are proud of all the successes that the almost 100 racing drivers have achieved in our name. We will do everything in our power to continue this success story.”

ABT Sportsline has amassed ten DTM titles, 78 race wins, 259 podiums, 92 pole positions, and 85 fastest laps, and the team refuses to slow down. “This is an impressive record and at the same time an obligation for everyone in the team, because we also want to fight for victories with the new brand and, ideally, be in the running for the championship at the end,” says ABT Motorsport Director Martin Tomczyk. “We have prepared intensively. With Mirko Bortolotti and Nicki Thiim, we have two strong drivers and a great team. We are happy that the season is finally starting. It will be an interesting weekend, with two performance pit stops on Sunday adding an extra element of excitement. A key factor will be making the most of the new Pirelli tyres, especially in Qualifying.”

“We learned a lot about this during the test two and a half weeks ago,” says defending champion Mirko Bortolotti, who races his first DTM event for ABT Sportsline next weekend. “I’m looking forward to the start of the new season and especially to the fans, who are always very special in the DTM.” Team-mate Nicki Thiim agrees: “Tyres are a hot topic. The guys in Kempten had a lot of data from the Oschersleben test to analyse and make the right decisions. Now it’s finally time to show what’s possible on the track.”

Engineers processed 46 gigabytes of test data, while mechanics stripped, inspected, and rebuilt both ABT Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 cars before a post-Easter rollout at the ADAC Fahrsicherheitszentrum in Kempten. The MAN transporters then headed for Oschersleben, ready for lights-out.

Saturday and Sunday races start at 13:30 CEST. ProSieben, Joyn, and Servus TV will broadcast the DTM live across German-speaking territories, with global audiences able to follow every lap via international TV partners and YouTube streams.
