Alpine A110 R Ultime Dazzles 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Alpine thrilled a sell-out 200,000-strong crowd at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed when the Alpine A110 R Ultime stormed to a production-class podium and finished inside the overall top ten during the celebrated timed shootout.
Laurent Hurgon—three-time Nürburgring Nordschleife lap-record holder—kept the lightweight coupé glued to the hillclimb, clocking 52.01 seconds in the final run. Powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder that produces 345 bhp and 420 Nm, the A110 R Ultime combined aggressive aerodynamics with Alpine’s hallmark chassis balance to humble far more powerful rivals in the 18-car field.
Alpine’s motorsport pedigree remained centre-stage as the BWT Alpine Formula One car blasted up the hill daily, drawing dense throngs in the paddock. The brand also unveiled the Alpine A290 Rallye—an uprated version of the 2025 Car of the Year—with a full safety cage, ZF limited-slip differential, and competition-grade suspension, brakes and running gear that preview its forthcoming competitive debut.
Alpine ran the hydrogen-powered Alpenglow HY6 in the United Kingdom for the first time. It’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 delivers 740 bhp, proving that zero-carbon innovation need not compromise raw performance and hinting at design cues for future Alpine models.
Set to reach showrooms soon, the all-electric Alpine A390 five-seat sports fastback joined the A110 and the new A290 on both the hill and the brand stand, underscoring Alpine’s plan to fuse emissions-free power with the agility that defines its racing heritage.
Nic Burnside, MD of Alpine Cars UK, said: “Motorsport and motoring enthusiasts are at the heart of Alpine, so to celebrate our 70th anniversary at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and to demonstrate such a wide range of truly exhilarating cars in front of such a vast audience, was incredible.
“The Alpine A110 R Ultime’s giant-killing performance in the timed shootout was the perfect way to highlight the spirit of competition that is at the heart of the brand. Alpine has inspiring plans for future success, and our presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was the perfect place to showcase our ambitions.”
