Amalgam McLaren MCL39 Models Mark 2025 Grand Prix Win
Amalgam Collection, the world’s leading creator of large-scale hand-built model cars, has unveiled three new McLaren Racing masterpieces: a 1:8 scale McLaren MCL39 model, a full-size replica of the MCL39 steering wheel, and a 1:18 scale McLaren MCL39 model, giving collectors a complete MCL39 lineup. These special editions celebrate McLaren’s standout performance at the 2025 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix, where Lando Norris claimed victory and Oscar Piastri finished ninth. They bring that success to life for Formula 1 enthusiasts and serious model car collectors alike.
The £8,995 1:8 scale McLaren MCL39 model captures the team’s 2025 Formula 1 challenger in remarkable detail. The car measures more than 70 centimetres in length, and Amalgam constructs each example from thousands of precision-engineered components to mirror the real MCL39 on track. The model shop team hand-builds every MCL39 over 250 hours, drawing on more than 2,500 hours of development using original CAD data and paint specifications supplied and approved by McLaren Racing. Amalgam limits editions to 99 per driver for both Norris and Piastri, making each 1:8-scale model an ultra-rare collector’s item for McLaren fans.
Alongside the 1:8 model, Amalgam presents the £6,995 full-size replica McLaren MCL39 steering wheel, a completely accurate recreation of the race-used component, available in strictly limited editions of 99 per driver. Each steering wheel replica features working buttons, switches, rotaries, and paddles, and Amalgam engineers hand-finish each piece to match the exact weight, feel, and functionality of the driver’s own cockpit equipment. Collectors who want an authentic McLaren F1 display piece can position this steering wheel replica at the centre of a dedicated MCL39 collection or pair it with the larger-scale car.
The newly available £1,050 1:18 scale McLaren MCL39 model completes the collection and measures over 31 centimetres (12 inches) in length. Amalgam spent more than 800 hours developing this smaller McLaren model, and the team uses precisely engineered castings, photo-etched details, and CNC-machined metal components to capture the MCL39's delicate aerodynamic surfaces. The result gives collectors a beautifully crafted entry point into the McLaren MCL39 series while still delivering Amalgam’s hallmark accuracy and craftsmanship in a display-friendly size.
Sandy Copeman, Founder of Amalgam Collection, said: “McLaren’s performance in Melbourne set the tone for their 2025 campaign, and we’re proud to capture that moment across a full model collection. Whether at 1:8, 1:18 or full-size steering wheel scale, each piece reflects the technical brilliance and excitement of modern Formula 1.
“In recent years, we’ve seen a surge in collectors viewing cars as art investments, and most of our models are themselves created as limited-edition artworks, with only a minimal number available. 2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for McLaren, and owning one of these ultra-limited Amalgam pieces is like owning a piece of automotive art that commemorates a defining season.”
