Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Kit: Track-Ready Performance
Porsche now offers the Manthey Kit for the current Porsche 911 GT3 (992.2), giving dedicated track-day drivers even better performance on the circuit. The kit significantly increases downforce, thereby raising cornering speeds. Porsche and Manthey have adapted the suspension specifically for track use and designed the brakes for the exceptionally high demands of intensive track days. Engineers at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach and Manthey in Meuspath developed the new Manthey Kit in close collaboration. Porsche Centres worldwide sell components that technicians have optimised for circuit use, so that owners can upgrade their Porsche 911 GT3 for focused track work.
At up to 540 kg of downforce at 177 mph, the aerodynamics of the Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Kit build on the already high-downforce standard car and focus even more on track driving. Engineers turned the entire underbody into a continuous aerodynamic element. They extended the air deflector elements, or turning vanes, on the underbody by 1 metre, to a total of 1.5 metres, so they generate additional downforce in a particularly efficient way. They also added a cover to the luggage compartment floor of the production vehicle, which creates an entirely smooth underbody for cleaner airflow. At the front, they redesigned the lip and extended it forward by 12 millimetres. Special front diffuser fins under the front of the vehicle and flaps on the sides further increase downforce at the front axle, so the 911 GT3 turns in with even more precision.
At the rear, the wing of the 911 GT3 with swan-neck mounts now spans a greater width and carries a Gurney flap. Enlarged end plates curve visibly inwards to achieve optimal airflow. A rear diffuser with longer fins further increases downforce without adding drag, so the Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Kit maintains high top speed while boosting stability.
Carbon-fibre wheel covers, or aerodiscs, on the rear wheels reduce drag and complete the interaction of all the aerodynamic components, which together optimise airflow and maximise overall efficiency. As a result, the Manthey performance kit greatly increases downforce while drag remains the same. At 177 mph (285 km/h), the 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit in road mode produces 355 kg of total downforce. In circuit mode, which drivers must not use on public roads, the downforce increases to 540 kg at 177 mph (285 km/h), giving experienced drivers even more confidence on demanding race tracks.
Together with Manthey, Porsche has developed a special four-way coilover suspension for the Porsche 911 GT3 that drivers can adapt precisely for circuit use. The suspension struts offer four-way adjustment, and drivers adjust rebound and compression without tools. Moderately revised spring rates, with a 10 per cent increase on the front axle compared with the predecessor model fitted with the Manthey Kit, contribute to improved handling at the limit and match the significantly higher downforce values. The optimised circuit suspension increases mechanical grip and makes the car even more stable, mainly when drivers attack kerbs on track.
Lightweight 20- and 21-inch forged wheels are available as an option for the Porsche 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit and suit owners who want a more focused track-day setup. These wheels reduce unsprung mass by 6 kg compared with the standard wheels. Porsche offers them in Brilliant Silver, Neodyme, and Black with a silk-gloss finish. The kit includes braided steel brake lines as standard, delivering precise pressure and optimal brake control during repeated hard stops. As an option, owners of the Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Kit can specify special racing brake pads for the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system for even more consistent braking on the circuit.
Drivers who want to add further visual accents can individualise their Porsche 911 GT3 with particularly sporty accessories from the Manthey range. They can fit carbon door sill trims with illuminated Manthey lettering, LED door projectors with white Manthey lettering and optional Manthey lettering on the doors to underline the sharpened character of the 911 GT3. The carbon aerodiscs come in various colours so owners can match their car’s track-focused styling. For circuit use, drivers can fit two straps at the front and rear. Porsche offers these straps in red, black or yellow, and they attach to the designated threaded holes at the front and rear. Owners must remove the straps before they drive on public roads. They can also enhance the 911 GT3 with carbon-fibre front air outlets and rear air intakes, reinforcing its motorsport-inspired appearance.
On the Nürburgring Nordschleife, traditionally the Porsche test laboratory for sports cars, the Porsche 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit can play to its full strengths. With reigning DTM champion Ayhancan Güven at the wheel and in less than ideal conditions, the modified GT sports car lapped the 12.9-mile (20.8 km) circuit in the Eifel region in 6:52.981 minutes, which makes it 2.76 seconds faster than the previous generation (992.1) of the 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit. Both cars used the optionally available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres for this comparison. A notary present on site certified the lap time, underlining the performance credentials of the Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Kit for severe Nürburgring Nordschleife driving.
"With the Manthey Kit, the 911 GT3 has once again become noticeably better in corners on the circuit," says Güven. "The significantly higher downforce and the optimised suspension make the car very easy to control and provide the driver with even more confidence. Unfortunately, the lap time wasn't ideal, as the autumn weather meant that the track was still damp in some places and therefore very slippery – otherwise we could have shaved off a few more seconds."
"For more than a year, we worked with the Porsche engineers to develop the new Manthey Kit for the 911 GT3 and did a lot of detailed work in the wind tunnel," says Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. "We also tested it over several thousand kilometres on European race tracks and on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Since the track conditions were challenging at critical points when setting the official lap time, we will make another attempt next year in better weather to demonstrate the full potential of the Manthey Kit."
Porsche expects to offer the Manthey Kit for the 911 GT3 from March 2026 for installation at Porsche Centres in the UK and will advise prices shortly so customers can plan their next track-focused upgrade. The factory warranty for the 911 GT3 remains fully intact, allowing owners to enjoy the full performance of the Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Kit on the circuit while retaining peace of mind for everyday road use.
