Ferrari F50 Legacy Tour 2025: Italian Road Spectacle
This weekend closed the Ferrari F50 Legacy Tour 2025, an exclusive gathering for F50 owners that showcased the supercar’s thirtieth-birthday prowess across Italy. More than twenty teams from ten nations piloted their Ferrari F50s over 675 kilometres of Tuscan and Emilian roads, linking Saturnia’s thermal baths to Maranello with stops in Grosseto, Porto Santo Stefano and Siena. Collectively, the cars logged almost 15,000 kilometres, underlining the owners’ passion and the enduring reliability of a supercar built three decades ago. On Friday, 9 July, the convoy rolled into Maranello, where Paolo Martinelli—the engineer who crafted the legendary naturally aspirated V12—shared insights into Ferrari's most direct Formula One-to-road-car engine transfer.
Ferrari unveiled the F50 at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show to herald its fiftieth anniversary, and the car still embodies the extreme spirit of the 1990s Prancing Horse. A carbon-fibre monocoque houses a longitudinal mid-rear V12 that doubles as a stressed chassis element, breathes through five valves per cylinder and channels raw power to the rear wheels without ABS or power steering. Designers employed advanced aerodynamics, horizontal push-rod dampers and a removable Targa roof to create a race-car-like driving experience that only 349 lucky owners enjoyed—“one less than the demand from its intended market”.
To mark the Legacy Tour 2025, Pirelli produced a bespoke P Zero Corsa System tyre bearing the “Ferrari F50 – Legacy Tour 2025” script, the first customised sidewall ever offered on a Pirelli road tyre. Available in 245/35 R18 front and 335/30 R18 rear sizes, the Collezione-range rubber combines directional and asymmetric tread patterns to resist aquaplaning while delivering outstanding high-speed stability on road and track. Modern compounds grant even greater safety and reliability than the early-2000s originals, ensuring the Ferrari F50 thrills long after its final parade lap on the Fiorano Circuit that concluded this unforgettable tour.
