Ferrari Opens Advanced Diagnostic Centre in Maranello
Ferrari has opened a new Ferrari Diagnostic Centre in Maranello to deliver preventive healthcare and advanced diagnostic services for employees and the local community. Med-Ex, Ferrari’s long-standing medical partner, manages the centre and uses the latest healthcare technology, including advanced medical equipment produced by Philips, a global leader in medical innovation.
The Ferrari Diagnostic Centre marks a first for Italy. It represents the first time a company outside the healthcare sector has created a facility of this level in collaboration with public institutions. Regional and local authorities worked closely with Ferrari to develop practical initiatives that support the local area and strengthen community healthcare services.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, Royal Philips CEO Roy Jakobs and Mattia Altini, General Manager of the Modena Local Health Authority, presented the initiative today. Emilia-Romagna Regional President Michele de Pascale, Maranello Mayor Luigi Zironi and Med-Ex founder and CEO Fred Fernando also attended the launch.
In the coming days, Ferrari will sign a three-year agreement with the Local Health Authority of Modena to provide breast cancer screening at the centre. The programme will serve women living in Maranello, Formigine and Fiorano and will strengthen cancer prevention across the area. Under the regional screening programme, the centre plans to carry out around 8,300 examinations, with Local Health Authority specialists responsible for reporting the results.
The centre also seeks recognition as a hub for epidemiological research. Med-Ex will support this role through its data pooling activities. The Ferrari Diagnostic Centre will also provide remote clinical document analysis and second opinions in collaboration with highly accredited public health centres across Italy.
Ferrari will not generate profit from the Ferrari Diagnostic Centre. The company will reinvest its share of the facility's profits into training for medical and technical staff and into scholarships for young medical professionals. Ferrari aims to strengthen local expertise while returning value to the community.
The centre features advanced healthcare technology that supports faster and more precise diagnosis. The equipment includes software with integrated artificial intelligence features, a Total Body Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine, a Spectral Computed Tomography machine, a Mammography machine with Tomosynthesis, a Digital Radiography machine with smart collimation and a DEXA Bone Densitometer. Each system delivers high-performance standards and supports reliable medical diagnostics.
The Ferrari Diagnostic Centre strengthens Ferrari’s long-standing focus on employee wellbeing. The initiative complements Formula Benessere, the company’s established welfare programme. Since 2024, the programme has provided a comprehensive annual health check-up for employees, with more than 4,000 staff receiving examinations in 2025. Formula Benessere Junior also offers healthcare services to the children of Ferrari employees and delivered more than 1,000 consultations in 2025. The new facility expands the range of specialist consultations available to Ferrari employees and offers comprehensive healthcare.
“The Diagnostic Centre is a concrete example of co-prosperity: it unites skills, resources, and innovation to generate and share value among companies, institutions and our communities. We built the facility in record time - under two months - with various companies working in close collaboration, alongside the public and private sectors”, declared Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari. “The new centre represents an initiative created for people and thanks to people, which has taught us many important lessons. For this reason, I like to remember that it’s not so much the goal of a project that matters, but rather what one becomes in the process of achieving it.”
Roy Jakobs, CEO of Philips, commented: “Ferrari is synonymous with speed, precision and performance, values that Philips also fully embraces. This initiative demonstrates how the combination of our leadership in innovation, our well-established ability to execute projects, and our people-centric approach can accelerate progress in healthcare, improving prevention, enabling earlier diagnosis, and expanding access to high-quality care. Together, we transform our visions into concrete actions, benefiting local communities and offering improved care to an ever-increasing number of people.
Michele de Pascale, President of the Emilia-Romagna Region: "We would like to thank Ferrari for choosing to continue collaborating with our region and our public system, investing its own resources in a new facility that will serve not only the company's employees, but the entire community. This is yet another example of how institutions and private entities in Emilia-Romagna work together to serve citizens. For the Emilia-Romagna Region, protecting the right to healthcare and prevention will increasingly be a priority, guiding all our policies in the health and social sectors and beyond. Any organisation wishing to accompany us on this path will find us ready to collaborate fruitfully and proactively."
“Today, a new public health infrastructure is coming to life, with a very concrete goal: to bring high-quality prevention closer to the people. This public-private partnership supports the public system, because it covers high costs, allowing resources to be reinvested in innovation, services and in remaining competitive,” stated Mattia Altini, General Manager of the Modena Local Health Authority. “This is exactly the kind of partnership that the healthcare system needs: transparent, focused on the common good, and with measurable results.
