Honda Civic Type R Ultimate Edition Bids Farewell to Europe

Honda caps nearly three decades of hot-hatch supremacy by releasing the Honda Civic Type R Ultimate Edition. This 40-unit swansong signals the end of Civic Type R sales across Europe before 2026. Each car arrives in trademark Championship White, its striking red decals coursing over bonnet and flanks to mirror the iconic red ‘H’ badge. A gloss-black roof and extensive carbon fibre—including wing spoiler, door-step garnish and interior console—elevate the racing aesthetic while reducing weight.

Lighting highlights premium cabin touches, such as the door lining, cup holder, console, footwell, and under-seat areas. A Type R logo projects onto the road whenever the doors open. Owners also receive a numbered emblem, a carbon key ring, bespoke floor mats and a fitted car cover, all presented in a matching gift box that underlines the Ultimate Edition’s exclusivity.

“As we say farewell to a true icon of the Honda automobile lineup in Europe, we thought it was fitting to give the Civic Type R the ultimate send-off with this special edition,” remarks Hannah Swift, Head of European Strategy and Product at Honda Motor Europe. “The industry is changing, and our model range is having to evolve with it due to European legislation. However, Type R has always been Honda’s ultimate expression of our passion for driving excitement.”

Launched in Japan in 1997, the Civic Type R has since spanned five further generations and numerous specials, building a devoted global following. Over the years, it has set front-wheel-drive production records at circuits such as the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Magny-Cours, Spa-Francorchamps, Hungaroring, Estoril, Suzuka, Silverstone and Mount Panorama. Its success extends to touring-car racing, where Civic Type R variants captured drivers’ and teams’ titles in the World Touring Car Championship and Cup, proving that showroom DNA can still conquer the track.

With the Ultimate Edition, Honda offers enthusiasts a final opportunity to own a factory-fresh Civic Type R that distils 28 years of motorsport-inspired engineering into a road-ready performance icon poised to become a collector’s dream.
