HondaJet APMG S Upgrade Boosts Performance and MTOW

Honda Aircraft Company has announced the HondaJet APMG S, a new performance upgrade package for owners and operators of the HondaJet Classic and the HondaJet APMG (Advanced Performance Modification Group). The APMG S package extends Honda’s culture of continuous improvement to early-production HondaJets. It gives owners a clear path to retrofit proven technical innovations from newer variants, including upgrades introduced on the HondaJet Elite S.

Honda Aircraft Company will deliver the HondaJet APMG S modifications package through its Greensboro Service Centre and its global network of 21 Authorised Centres. The company has also completed APMG S upgrades on several pre-owned HondaJet aircraft and now offers those aircraft through its pre-owned aircraft programme.

The HondaJet APMG S upgrade package adds avionics software and hardware that increase processing speed and support future innovation across the legacy HondaJet fleet. These enhancements also bring key HondaJet Elite S features to more aircraft, including the Advanced Steering Augmentation System (ASAS). ASAS supports more precise handling and expands crosswind capability. The APMG S modifications also increase the Maximum Take-off Weight (MTOW) by 300 pounds compared with an unmodified legacy HondaJet, giving operators greater flexibility across useful load. Pilots also gain Graphical Weight and Balance features, which allow them to enter loading and fuel data to estimate take-off and landing weights.

"Honda Aircraft Company has challenged itself to provide our customers with top-level performance from the time the very first HondaJet rolled off the production line," said Amod Kelkar, Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer and Large Project Leader for HondaJet Echelon. "As we approach the tenth anniversary of our first HondaJet delivery, we are excited to provide our customers the opportunity to upgrade their aircraft with the advanced technology and performance of more recent iterations of the award-winning HondaJet. We are also pleased to offer multiple interior refurbishment options to enhance aircraft receiving APMG S modifications at our Greensboro Service Centre, thereby building on aircraft asset value and ownership appeal. By combining these service items, we can economise and reduce downtime for our valued customers."

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified the APMG S modifications package for installation on aircraft registered in the United States at the time of publication, and Honda Aircraft Company plans to pursue foreign certification next.

Honda Aircraft Company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. It leads research, development, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and customer support for the HondaJet Elite II. The company founded Honda Aircraft in 2006 and bases its global headquarters in North Carolina. In 2023, Honda Aircraft Company announced plans to develop and produce the 11-occupant HondaJet Echelon, which it will offer alongside the HondaJet Elite II. The company delivered more than 250 HondaJets globally by 2024 and continues to advance the Honda brand promise, “The Power of Dreams: How We Move You.”
