Hyundai MobED Wins CES 2026 Best of Innovation in Robotics

Hyundai Motor Company has won the CES 2026 Best of Innovation Award in Robotics for MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid), an innovation from Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB. This recognition highlights the Group’s progress in robotics technology and its drive to redefine mobility solutions with the Hyundai MobED robotics platform.

Hyundai Motor has received the prestigious Best of Innovation award at CES for the first time. MobED showcases Hyundai Motor’s leadership by combining advanced engineering with practical, real-world applications.

The CES Innovation Awards programme celebrates standout products for achievements in design, innovation and engineering across multiple categories. The programme reserves the Best of Innovation Award for the highest-rated product in each category, which makes this accolade a significant milestone for the Group and the Hyundai MobED robotics platform.

“Winning this prestigious award reinforces our commitment to advancing robotics solutions that enhance everyday life. It is particularly significant to see MobED evolve from its debut as a concept at CES 2022 to receiving this accolade as a mass-production-ready platform. We will continue to develop robotics autonomous navigation technology and artificial intelligence technology to deliver innovative solutions that bring the potential of robotics closer to our customers.” – Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB.

Hyundai unveiled MobED at the International Robot Exhibition 2025 (iREX 2025) in Tokyo, Japan, in December 2025. MobED is a versatile mobile robot platform that operates across varied terrain and adapts to industrial and everyday use. The Robotics LAB’s proprietary Drive and Lift (DnL) technology helps MobED maintain stable performance on uneven surfaces, inclines and curbs, even in demanding environments.

Hyundai offers two models, MobED Basic and MobED Pro, to meet a wide range of needs. Operators control MobED Basic, which supports flexible research and development. Integrated LiDAR-camera fusion sensors enable MobED Pro’s advanced autonomous capabilities and deliver precise, seamless navigation.

MobED uses a simple design that prioritises restraint and balance while keeping the focus on core mobile platform performance. AI-based algorithms and autonomous driving technology run on the Hyundai MobED robotics platform, and its modular architecture supports a wide range of top-mounted modules. This modular design enables applications across logistics, broadcasting, guidance services and digital signage. Hyundai Motor Group will start mass production for both models in early 2026.

MobED combines AI-driven autonomous navigation, a customisable modular design and sensor technology that supports safe, intuitive operation. These capabilities help the platform navigate narrow indoor routes and rugged outdoor terrain, supporting versatility across industries and advancing the automotive industry’s first mass-produced mobile robot solution.

This innovation aligns with the Group’s broader strategy as it evolves from an automotive manufacturer into a comprehensive provider of innovative mobility solutions.

Hyundai Motor Group will begin mass production of MobED in the first quarter of 2026. Visitors at CES 2026 can see MobED in action at the company’s exhibit, where Hyundai will showcase logistics, delivery and autonomous navigation use cases. The Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB website will provide additional details about MobED and purchasing options.
