Gunther Werks F-26 Slantnose Debuts With 1,000bhp At The Quail
Gunther Werks unveiled its first Slantnose-inspired build at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on Friday, 15 August. Project F-26 crowns everything the company has learned since its first build, reinventing the Turbo platform to deliver 1,000 horsepower and headline performance for a bespoke Porsche restomod.
The team named Project F-26 after the aerodynamic silhouette of a fighter jet and its limited run of 26 cars. Visually, F-26 channels the iconic Porsche 935 Slantnose and the Porsche Slantnose road car, blending timeless cues with Gunther Werks’ advanced carbon fibre process and a single-minded focus on speed, grip and control.
Gunther Werks finishes the F-26 in custom metallic paint and fits a carbon fibre high downforce wing, new rear panels with aggressive side intakes and a squared off rear fender, all set off by a dramatic Slantnose front that nods to one of Porsche’s boldest experiments. An in-house engineered carbon fibre front end replaces the original Slantnose pop-up headlights with fixed units to smooth airflow and cut drag. The lightweight construction delivers a kerb weight of only 2,700 pounds.
An air-cooled twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre flat-six, co-developed with Rothsport Racing, supplies 1,000 horsepower and 750 lb ft of torque to a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A race-derived flat fan keeps the engine cool, moving more than double the air of a standard vertical fan while cooling all six cylinders evenly.
Gunther Werks also fits an all-new carbon fibre airbox, a redesigned intercooler plenum and integrated blow-off valves within the intake system. F-26 runs on high-octane ethanol with adaptive fuel mapping for standard high-octane petrol. Lightweight carbon fibre charge pipes feed the engine with pressurised air for sharp turbo response, and a custom 935-style exhaust with external wastegates gives F-26 its distinctive sound.
Gunther Werks equips Project F-26 with staggered Turbo Twist magnesium monoblock wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Force tyres, measuring 295/30R18 up front and 335/30R18 at the rear. The chassis introduces all-new double wishbone front suspension, adaptive JRZ dampers, motorsport-grade ABS and advanced traction control. Engineers extend the wheelbase by 30 millimetres to the rear to lengthen the stance and lower the engine’s centre of gravity.
Inside, F-26 balances function with craft, showcasing exposed carbon fibre, custom leather upholstery and Alcantara headliner accents. The steering wheel takes cues from the wing-angle profile of a fighter jet, while a wooden shift knob honours Porsche racing heritage. A contemporary dashboard pairs a Porsche Classic radio with Apple CarPlay to blend vintage charm with modern connectivity.
“The Slantnose is a bold icon from Porsche’s past,” says Peter Nam, founder of Gunther Werks. “The timing felt right to reimagine it with modern craftsmanship and engineering. It's our way of bridging nostalgia with next-gen performance for the modern driver.”
Production remains limited to 26 units, each tailored for discerning drivers who want an analogue yet modern performance experience from a Gunther Werks F-26 Slantnose inspired by Porsche 935 heritage.
