Lamborghini Opens Archive Celebrating 10 Years of Polo Storico
Automobili Lamborghini reconnects with its roots daily through an extraordinary archive of original documents. This historical collection forms the heart of all Polo Storico activities, safeguarding and promoting Lamborghini’s automotive heritage. Since 2015, the year Polo Storico launched, the Archive has supported meticulous restorations, issued certifications, and enabled the recreation of rare spare parts. As Polo Storico celebrates its tenth anniversary, Lamborghini opens the Archive to the public through a newly released video highlighting its enduring value.
“The Archive is the foundation of everything we do. It guides us, teaches us, and reminds us who we are. Every restoration and certification begins there, with over 30,000 documents and artefacts that tell stories of people, details and cars,” stated Alessandro Farmeschi, After Sales Director at Automobili Lamborghini. “As we celebrate ten years of Polo Storico, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding and promoting Lamborghini’s legacy. Giving voice to the past, respecting history, and ensuring that every car continues to tell its story is not just a duty, but a privilege. Because preserving heritage does not mean standing still, it means passing it on.”
At its headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini maintains a vast collection of technical drawings, original design sketches, production sheets, vintage photographs, and commercial correspondence dating back to its founding in 1963. This Archive plays a central role in documenting Lamborghini’s evolution while supporting restorations, vehicle authentications, and historical research. The collection proved vital in reconstructing the Countach LP 500 prototype in 2021 and verifying the original Miura P400 from The Italian Job, both achievements made possible through deep archival research by Polo Storico specialists.
Polo Storico annually enhances the Archive by recovering documents, sourcing materials, and collaborating with former employees, technical experts, and private collectors. This ongoing effort ensures the Archive continues to grow, enriching the Lamborghini legacy and reinforcing the brand’s connection across generations.
To commemorate a decade of Polo Storico, Lamborghini shares its mission in a four-part film series, each instalment spotlighting a cornerstone of its work: the Archive itself; the ‘Comitato dei Saggi’—a council of former staff whose knowledge validates historic projects; expert restorations; and rigorous certifications. The anniversary celebrations began in St. Moritz and will continue at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August, concluding in Bologna at Auto e Moto d’Epoca this October.
