Lotus Emira Clark Edition Honours Jim Clark
Lotus unveils the Emira Clark Edition in partnership with the Jim Clark Trust and leads it onto the world stage at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. The British marque limits production to sixty cars, ensuring instant rarity and global desirability for collectors who value pure driving engagement and rich motorsport heritage. The project celebrates Jim Clark’s astonishing 1965 season, when he captured the Formula 1 World Championship and conquered the Indianapolis 500—a feat no other driver has matched—while also winning Formula 2, the Tasman Series and touring‑car races in a Lotus Cortina.
Designers cloak the Emira in Clark Racing Green, add a black roof and silver mirrors, and sweep a yellow racing stripe around the nose in homage to Clark’s Indy‑winning Lotus Type 38. A machined aluminium filler cap with blue anodised centre, yellow exhaust tips, and a hand‑painted yellow pinstripe along the swage line amplify the tribute. Doors carry Clark Edition branding styled after the original script that adorned his racing cars, further linking the modern sports car to its storied past.
Inside, asymmetric sports seats echo the red‑trimmed Lotus racers Clark drove in 1965; the driver’s seat wears red leather and Alcantara®, while the passenger seat remains black. Craftspeople fit a sixties‑style wooden gear knob, apply Jim Clark’s tartan to commemorative badging and embroider Team Lotus details on the backrests. His signature graces the dashboard, and each car bears numbered carbon‑fibre treadplates, reinforcing exclusivity. Owners also receive a hand‑crafted leather holdall finished with unique Clark Edition touches.
Beneath the distinctive bodywork, the Emira Clark Edition retains the Lotus Emira V6’s core engineering: a 400 hp supercharged 3.5‑litre V6, a six‑speed manual gearbox and a limited‑slip differential. Hydraulic steering assures unfiltered feedback, while the Lotus Driver’s Pack—sports suspension, Track Mode and a revised exhaust—sharpens responses for road and circuit alike. The result embodies the agile, communicative character that defines every modern Lotus sports car.
Priced at £115,000 in the United Kingdom and €140,000 in Germany, the Lotus Emira Clark Edition melds bespoke design with uncompromising performance. It is a fitting homage to Jim Clark and a coveted limited‑run British sports car for enthusiasts worldwide.
