Milltek Launches RS4 B7 Exhaust With Active H-Pipe Tech

Milltek releases a state-of-the-art sports exhaust system for the Audi RS4 B7 and its much-loved 4.2-litre, 414bhp, naturally aspirated V8. Responding to rising demand for replacement sports exhausts on modern classics, Milltek’s engineers revisit the RS4 B7 exhaust and integrate contemporary technology to sharpen sound, character and drivability.

They add a modern silencer and introduce an active centre H-pipe with a vacuum-operated valve, aligning the system with the current Audi RS range. The setup delivers an apparent change between Sport mode on and off, enhancing everyday refinement and weekend drama for RS4 B7 owners.

Switch Sport mode off, and the active H-pipe opens to let exhaust gases from each bank mix: the rear valves close, routing gases through the rear silencers to soften the note. Engage Sport mode and the active H-pipe valve closes, creating two separate pipes—one per bank—while the rear silencer valves open so gases bypass the silencers for a freer-flowing path and a richer, louder sound.

The system retains the factory Audi valve control, so the steering-wheel Sport button works as intended while the Milltek exhaust adds a more involving soundtrack. Milltek builds the RS4 B7 exhaust from high-quality T304L stainless steel and backs it with a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser. The kit includes everything needed for a straightforward fitting.

Further details include left and right centre resonators, silencers, valved outlets and rear brackets. It looks the part too, with oval OE-style trims offered in four finishes: Polished Stainless, Cerakote Black Stainless, Brushed Titanium and Burnt Titanium. The design complements the RS4 B7’s lines while the performance exhaust note underscores its character.

For RS4 owners in Europe who require an EC-approved replacement exhaust, Milltek continues to offer the original V1 system, which delivers an enhanced tone within officially approved noise limits.

Technical Operations Manager at Milltek, Kev Hall, said: “Everyone has a soft spot for the RS4 B7 as it was one of the first Audis that felt so dynamically competent with a V8 engine that desperately needed to be heard, which is why it is a perfect car for a Milltek exhaust system to enhance its sound and performance delivery.

“I’d describe it as a Jekyll and Hyde exhaust: with Sport mode off, it is silky smooth and subtle, then with Sport mode on, everything opens up and you get the full sound of the exhaust as the rear valves open and the active centre closes, and vice versa with it off. It’s very similar tech to what we offer on the latest factory Audi RS models.”
