New Mercedes-Benz S-Class 2026: Luxury Saloon Benchmark
Mercedes-Benz marks 140 years since Carl Benz invented the automobile in 1886, and the new S-Class steps forward as the ultimate icon. As the world’s best-selling luxury saloon, it sets the benchmark in its segment through careful refinement in every detail. It does more than lead the range. It captures the brand’s pioneering spirit, engineering excellence and craftsmanship, and it delivers that unmistakable feeling of “Welcome home.”
This latest S-Class evolution delivers the most extensive update within a single generation and takes a leading role in the most ambitious product launch programme in Mercedes-Benz history. Engineers have newly developed or re-engineered more than 50 per cent of the S-Class, representing approximately 2,700 components. This update strengthens a legacy built on aspiration, engineering, digital ambition and progress.
From 30 January 2026, customers can configure and order the new S-Class online. The Mercedes-Benz S 350 d 4MATIC Saloon starts from a gross list price of €121,356.20 (incl. 19 % VAT). Mercedes-Benz also offers leasing and financing options, including a monthly private leasing rate starting at €1,020.00 (incl. 19% VAT). Business customers can access a net entry price from €101,980.00 (excl. 19 % VAT).
The new S-Class presents itself with greater confidence and individuality, and it brings more S-Class character than ever. It carries a bolder silhouette and introduces an illuminated grille. Designers enlarge the grille by around 20 per cent and finish it with redesigned, three-dimensional chrome stars. For more than 100 years, the upright Mercedes star has symbolised heritage and pioneering spirit. It now enters a new era. For the first time, the star on the S-Class is optionally self-illuminated. It becomes part of the S-Class light signature, giving the car a radiant presence at night. This contemporary lighting design conveys prestige and transforms every arrival, whether at a grand event or simply returning home, into a memorable moment.
The DIGITAL LIGHT twin-star headlamp design creates an iconic look in daylight and at night, while improving visibility so drivers feel more confident on any road. At the rear, newly designed taillights with three chrome-framed signature stars strengthen the S-Class identity and leave a lasting impression. Mercedes-Benz adds an integrated light projector in the side sill trim that casts the “Mercedes-Benz” lettering as a lighting scheme next to the car. It greets passengers and turns every entry and exit into a special moment.
The new S-Class improves night-time confidence through the new DIGITAL LIGHT system. Innovative micro-LED technology and a powerful new chip expand the high-resolution illumination field by approximately 40 per cent. The system delivers brighter high beams and reduces energy consumption compared with the predecessor. Dynamic ULTRA RANGE high beam reaches up to 600 metres, which equals roughly six soccer fields, and it now swivels to optimise coverage. Its partial high-beam function improves detection of low-contrast road users without dazzling other drivers. The system combines camera data with map intelligence, enabling cornering lights to adapt more precisely to road layouts. Mercedes-Benz powers this capability with in-house software integrated into the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) to enablefaster adaptation. From the candlelit lanterns on Gottlieb Daimler’s Motor Carriage in 1886 to today’s DIGITAL LIGHT with projection function, Mercedes-Benz has illuminated every era of automotive history, and the new S-Class turns that expertise into an intelligent layer of safety and comfort.
The MANUFAKTUR programme expands personalisation with exclusive paint finishes, luxurious leather packages and handcrafted details. Two new MANUFAKTUR shades now join the standard colour range. MANUFAKTUR black sparkling uses genuine glass flakes to create a striking shimmer. MANUFAKTUR verdesilver magno adds a sophisticated matte finish to the popular verdesilver tone.
Mercedes-Benz also launches MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure for customers who want maximum individuality. Customers can choose from more than 150 paint colours and over 400 interior colours for the new S-Class. They can also select equipment options such as illuminated door sills with brand lettering, steering-wheel variants and emblem packages. The programme offers pre-approved options with fixed pricing and instant feasibility confirmation. It also lets customers explore the full spectrum of technically achievable colours for exterior and interior designs. MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure experts assess requests beyond this portfolio during a personalised consultation, either at the Centre of Excellence in Sindelfingen or at a location chosen by the customer. An immersive visualisation tool brings each specification to life and helps customers select colours and design elements that match their individual taste.

MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST detects parking spaces on both sides of the vehicle at a particularly early point and enables angled parking for the first time. It also recognises spaces that do not rely solely on white line markings. The car can now assist with exiting a parking space even after the driver completes a manual parking manoeuvre. The system also parks faster, which adds meaningful everyday value. Mercedes-Benz will offer the Reverse manoeuvring function first in China. Under certain conditions, it enables the vehicle to precisely retrace its path when reversing. While the assistant runs, the main screen displays the reversing camera image and a graphic representation of the planned path, which helps when the driver cannot turn around.
MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 introduces enhanced surround-view displays through a 360-degree camera and a refreshed user interface. When manoeuvring, it shows a distance warning to help the driver avoid rim damage. Mercedes-Benz will introduce the Visual Rim Protection warning later in the new S-Class.
The fourth-generation MBUX arrives in the S-Class and runs on MB.OS. It integrates AI from ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini, and combines multiple AI agents into a single system. The MBUX Virtual Assistant “Hey Mercedes” reshapes how passengers interact with the car from any seat. It delivers a more intuitive and personal companion through generative AI, multi-turn dialogues that feel natural, and short-term memory. The assistant appears as a living avatar on the Zero Layer, using dynamic colours and animations. It also offers two new avatar designs, including a human-like figure and “LittleBenz,” to strengthen emotional connection.
The interface includes an enhanced MBUX Zero Layer that shows recently used apps, customisable folders and swipe navigation for effortless control. Drivers and passengers can install more than 40 apps across audio, video, productivity and entertainment, and Mercedes-Benz continues to expand this portfolio.
As standard, the MBUX Superscreen creates a new display concept that unites the 14.4-inch central display and the 12.3-inch passenger display beneath a continuous glass surface. This design forms a sculptural visual unit. The driver receives clear, focused information, while the front passenger accesses personalised entertainment, such as streaming, gaming, or apps, even while the vehicle is in motion, in line with country-specific regulations. A camera-based privacy function adapts the passenger screen to reduce distraction for the driver. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, available in 3D, appears to float behind the steering wheel with crisp clarity. High-resolution ambient styles and visual modes from Mercedes-Benz UI designers transform the MBUX Superscreen into an immersive digital space that enriches every journey.
MB.OS also enables navigation based on Google Maps in the new S-Class. Mercedes-Benz developed the navigation solution through its partnership with Google and integrates Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent for in-vehicle conversation services with Google Maps. MBUX Surround Navigation blends driver-assistance views with a 3D representation of the surroundings around the S-Class and shows real-time routing on the driver’s display. Drivers gain stronger situational awareness because they see what the S-Class sees and how assistance systems support them. The MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display complements this by projecting guidance cues, such as arrows, lane recommendations, and points of interest, onto the road ahead. This visual guidance helps drivers anticipate complex manoeuvres and supports confidence and comfort, particularly in unfamiliar cities and dense urban traffic.
MBUX Notes and MBUX Calendar expand productivity on the move. Drivers can dictate ideas hands-free in multiple languages, and MBUX Notes uses AI to summarise and structure them into clear bullet points. Users can share notes via Gmail or Outlook, or sync them to OneNote for further editing. Mercedes-Benz also prioritises data protection and avoids permanent storage with third parties, keeping users' deep notes secure while staying organised.
Mercedes-Benz refines interior comfort across the new S-Class, turning every journey into an experience of first-class calm and control. “Welcome home. becomes tangible through details that blend technology with craftsmanship. The redesigned instrument panel integrates the MBUX Superscreen seamlessly into the cockpit.
