Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo Debuts in Munich
Just one week after teasing its next concept car, Opel reveals the first full images and confirms the name of the show car that will make its world premiere at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich from 8 to 14 September 2025. As its name suggests, the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo previews future GSE models, reinforces Opel’s commitment to the small car segment, and arrives this autumn in one of the world’s premier racing simulators, Gran Turismo 7. With striking design, an overall output of 588 kW (800 hp), 800 Nm of torque and a top speed of 320 km/h, the all-electric Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo encapsulates Opel’s GSE performance sub-brand.
“The Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo takes our GSE sub-brand to the next level. It not only showcases what is possible on a small car platform, but it also offers a clear view of the future, appealing to all kinds of car enthusiasts. For the first time, an Opel concept can be admired from a distance. This autumn, everybody can drive this stunning newcomer in Gran Turismo 7 and experience OMG! GSE moments for themselves. The result of the combination of the iconic Corsa nameplate with high-performance GSE traits speaks for itself,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.
“We are delighted to welcome Opel back to Gran Turismo with such an exciting and innovative take on the Corsa. Opel has a rich racing heritage, and the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo will be popular with GT players around the world. We love seeing Vision Gran Turismo cars brought to life as full-scale models and can’t wait for the reaction of fans when it is unveiled at the IAA Mobility 2025 on 8 September before it is displayed at the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin on Saturday, 20 September,” said Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi.
Opel equips the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo with two 350 kW (476 hp) electric motors, one on each axle, for a combined 588 kW (800 hp). Permanent all-wheel drive increases grip, sharpens handling and improves stability. A single-speed transmission helps the car sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.0 seconds and supports a 320 km/h top speed. A boost function delivers an extra 59 kW (80 hp) for up to four seconds to ease overtakes on track, then fully recharges in 80 seconds once depleted. Despite an 82 kWh battery, kerb weight comes in at just 1,170 kg thanks to extensive use of lightweight materials.
The technical design matches the performance. The Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo demonstrates the freedom the STLA Small platform offers for bold proportions and surfacing. It keeps a Corsa-like footprint yet sits lower and much wider for a planted stance. The body sculpture uses sharp, precise feature lines with technical, machined details. At the front, a slim next-generation Opel Vizor frames the illuminated Opel Blitz at the centre of the signature Opel Compass, which acts as both guiding element and visual backbone. Signature lighting bars on the horizontal axis end in two three-dimensional glass blocks. In contrast, an illuminated vertical axis surrounds the Blitz and a centre crease flows from the bumper into the aero-optimised bonnet.
At the rear, edge-lighting technology forms a distinctive compass signature brake light that pairs with bold “OPEL” lettering at the centre. The broad rear compass tail lamp merges with the rear window to create a bold, detoxed look. Designers elevate the compass to the car’s central spine, expressed inside and out, to unify the theme.
Opel refines aerodynamics to keep the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo planted at speed. Aero curtains ahead of the pronounced front and rear wings work with black aero blade fender flares to smooth airflow and enhance stability. Aero wheels reduce turbulence in the arches, while an active aero diffuser and an active aero spoiler vary downforce to suit the driving situation.
Attention to detail underscores the concept. Slim sleeping-edge lights hide the indicators within the front and rear wings. Truncated triangular elements inspired by icons such as the Opel Manta 400 rally car appear in the wheel structure, roof spoiler and roll cage. Contrasting colours amplify the stance. The body wears pearl white, with aero elements including the bonnet, spoiler, and diffuser shining in bold yellow, and the roof and front aero blade fender flares appearing in black. The front Goodyear tyres sit on 21-inch black and yellow rims, while the rear uses white and yellow 22-inch rims. Bilstein dampers at both ends help the tyres maintain contact with the road and further improve handling.
Inside, the cockpit delivers a detoxed racing experience guided by the Opel Compass. A slim steering wheel leaves an unobstructed view of key information projected onto the head-up display, so no extra screens distract the driver. A suspended, lightweight sport seat in black and bright yellow with six-point belts integrates the driver into the experience and, together with the roll cage, supports high safety standards. Onboard sensors monitor surrounding traffic and illuminate woven fabrics on the dashboard and door inserts to warn when another vehicle enters the blind spot.
The Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo extends a long line of Opel concept cars. The brand with the Blitz became the first European manufacturer to present a concept car with the Experimental GT in 1965. Sixty years later, Opel again breaks new ground by unveiling a physical show car at IAA Mobility 2025 that fans can also drive in Gran Turismo 7, strengthening links with the gaming community. Drawing on Opel’s motorsport roots and the iconic Corsa nameplate, the concept looks ahead to future generations of sporty GSE models. It distils the essence of the GSE sub-brand into an all-electric, high-performance small car.
