Future Alpine A110: A Veiled Sculpture Reveals Its Design

For only the third time in its 71-year history, Alpine is about to renew its icon. Like every generation before it, the future Alpine A110 must express its era. Alpine will build it on the all-new APP (Alpine Performance Platform), which Renault Group unveiled this spring during its FutuREady plan presentation. In July, a development mule called Alpine A110 FUTURE ran before the public at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its bodywork was based on the current model, stretched to fit the new dimensions of the APP platform. Now Alpine is evoking the design of the third A110 to bear the name through a sculpture: a true artistic vision of how its designers interpret tomorrow's A110.

The essence of the future A110's style begins to emerge as you read a phantom volume covered by a veil. The sculpture appears to levitate and, beyond its artistic appeal, it is also a tool designers commonly use in their formal research. Draping a veil over a body, rather than hiding it, lets you read its proportions and intentions. Designers use this technique to explore themes and proportions, allowing the car to reveal the essence of its style. In this meeting of art and engineering, a discreet veil lets you sense the elements that will shape the third generation of the brand's icon.

The sculpture captures a frozen moment: the instant of breaking the sound barrier. Its blue veil, like a point of tension at the very moment the wind catches it, also suggests lightness and aerodynamics. Both are key elements of a sports car in which form follows function. One strong inspiration comes from the Concorde story, a symbol of French technological excellence. The exceptional performance of a civil aircraft that broke the sound barrier forged its unique style. That precise moment, marked by a powerful sonic resonance, is one of the sculpture's major sources of inspiration: a suspended instant charged with concentrated energy.

Alpine must combine these elements with the DNA that makes an A110: proportions and a stance in the lineage of the Berlinette and the current A110. The third generation will be unmistakably an Alpine A110. You can see this in its V-shaped front end, the dual light signature suggested here, and the typical side modelling born from the evocation of movement, now modernised and more sculptural. You can also see it in the contrast between tension and curvaceous volumes, which convey emotion and symbolise Alpine's technical mastery.

A beltline running from the shark-nose front end to the lowered rear defines the pure silhouette of the future Alpine A110, giving it incomparable presence and elegance. The smooth, teardrop-shaped cabin capsule sits seamlessly between four particularly muscular and pronounced wheel arches, with a slender waist only just visible.

Behind this sophisticated drape, the result reveals a style that is highly dynamic, curvaceous and pure all at once. It is a sculptural expression of art in motion and of energy captured in an instant. Alpine designed it so that, at a single glance, it stirs the same emotions that guided its designers during its creation.
