Alpine A290 Rallye: Alpine's First Electric Rally Car Revealed

Alpine will display the Alpine A290 Rallye, the marque’s first electric rally car created for customer competition, at Rallye Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie from 3 to 5 July 2025. Alpine’s Viry-Châtillon teams have engineered the car, and specialists at the Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé competition workshop assemble each example.

By creating an authentic gateway to electric competition, engineers have designed the A290 Rallye to meet the latest rally regulations and to carry forward the competition genes that founder Jean Rédélé embedded in Alpine, proving the car’s versatility from one-make series to open events.

Customers will take their first start in a single-rally challenge in France later this year. Alpine will deliver top-tier technical and sporting support and will soon reveal prizes for leading crews. At every dedicated meeting, the company will reserve an Alpine paddock zone complete with adaptable, environmentally responsible charging solutions.

Private teams may also enter the Alpine A290 Rallye in local rallies under their banner.

Developers prioritise crew safety by installing a welded roll cage and Sabelt bucket seats that comply with the latest FIA standards.

The electric motor delivers 220 hp and 300 Nm to the front axle via a ZF limited-slip differential, while updated gearbox software and electronic management enhance response. Advanced electrical monitoring systems optimise every kilowatt for consistent stage performance.

Six-piston monoblock callipers bite 350 mm front discs, and single-piston rears clamp 280 mm discs, all managed by Alpine Racing’s rally-spec ABS; a hydraulic handbrake adds instant rotation when required.

Alpine Racing adapts the standard A290 chassis with dedicated suspension, which includes ALP Racing Suspension dampers, and Michelin Pilot Sport A tyres wrapped around bespoke 8×18-inch EVO Corse wheels for confident grip on both loose and sealed surfaces.

Engineers enrich driver feedback and spectator excitement with an innovative system that produces speed-linked sound in harmony with throttle input.

Alpine sets the price of a fully assembled and painted A290 Rallye at €59,990 before VAT.

After its Rouergue unveiling, the Alpine A290 Rallye will tackle the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 10 to 13 July before lining up at Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine from 4 to 6 September.
