Defender OCTA Black: The Ultimate Tough Luxury 4x4 Icon
Defender OCTA Black commands attention as the toughest, most luxurious Land Rover Defender yet, uniting extreme performance with an all-black aesthetic that radiates confident style on and off the road. Land Rover coats the body in Narvik Black—the most actual shade in the palette—then offers an optional Matte Protective Film for clients who crave a stealthier finish. Designers apply black treatments to 30 exterior elements, creating a cohesive look that underscores the SUV’s purpose-built stance while amplifying its tough-luxury character.
Engineers fit front undershields and rear scuff plates in a Satin Black Powder Coat, expose the recovery eyes in matching satin, and contrast them with a gloss-black tow-eye cover and quad exhaust tips. Even the grille wears a black oval with darkened silver script, while the underbody sports gloss or satin finishes, including the exhaust silencer cover and the optional electrically deployable towbar. Buyers can choose between 20-inch forged wheels or 22-inch gloss-black alloys, each featuring black centre caps and the Shadow Atlas Defender script. Gloss-black brake callipers bearing Sentient Silver lettering complete the look.
Inside, Defender OCTA Black elevates uncompromising luxury further. Ebony semi-aniline leather blended with Kvadrat™ wraps the performance seats, whose unique perforations and new stitching add tactile richness. Carpathian Grey seat backs and arm-rest hinges provide contrast, while the cross-car beam adopts a Satin Black Powder Coat. Drivers can specify chopped carbon fibre interior trim for an additional layer of bespoke sophistication.
“There’s no denying the presence and purpose of Defender OCTA: it’s the tallest and widest Defender, enabling it to tackle even more extreme terrain. The introduction of Defender OCTA Black takes things to the next level. We know our clients love giving their Defenders all-black finishes, so our designers have applied this principle to every possible surface – inside and out – to create the ultimate tough luxury Defender OCTA.” Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Defender.
Under the bonnet, a 635 PS 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 teams with innovative 6D Dynamics suspension and a dedicated OCTA Mode to deliver relentless off-road prowess and thrilling on-road agility. Body and Soul Seats, developed in collaboration with SUBPAC, allow front occupants to feel the 700 W, 15-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System, utilising the same AI-optimised vibroacoustic technology favoured by top recording artists for an immersive listening experience.
Recent Defender enhancements also reach the OCTA Black, including crisp new headlights with revised signature graphics, flush-smoked lens rear lights, and a 13.1-inch touchscreen that streamlines infotainment control. The model joins the standard Defender OCTA, now available in Sargasso Blue, Borasco Grey, Charente Grey, and Petra Copper, with a Patagonia White matte wrap set to arrive in late 2025.
As the official automotive partner of Oasis Live ’25, Defender transports the legendary British band on its 41-date world tour that begins in the UK today. Prices for Defender OCTA Black start at £158,045 OTR, securing a place at the top of the luxury 4x4 performance arena.
