Aston Martin DBX S: Lighter, Faster and Fiercely Dynamic

Aston Martin unveils the DBX S, the flagship of its luxury SUV range. Drawing on the DBX707’s dynamic prowess and twin-turbo V8 technology lifted directly from the forthcoming Valhalla supercar, the DBX S delivers sharper power, lighter construction and a more assertive design. Exterior and interior upgrades give the model an unmistakable identity.

The ‘S’ suffix has long signalled an elevated performance specification at Aston Martin, starting with the Vanquish S in 2004. The DBX S extends that legacy, proving that lighter, more potent variants remain central to the marque’s lineup.

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark remarked, ‘Over the last two years, Aston Martin has introduced an entire core collection of next-generation sports cars as well as a new DBX; all with a new, entirely bespoke infotainment system designed in-house. The marque continues its focus on class-leading performance, ultra-luxury design and innovation, broadening the range of products under each core model. The introduction of DBX S not only reaffirms our commitment to producing the most exciting, rewarding and beautiful cars, it also sends a powerful statement of intent about our ambitions not just for DBX, but for the Aston Martin brand.”

Engineers enhance the acclaimed 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with larger compressor wheels and internal revisions, raising output by 20 PS to 727 PS. The DBX S sprints from 0–62 mph in 3.3 seconds, slices 0.3 seconds from the 0–124 mph dash and still reaches 193 mph.

A retuned exhaust amplifies the V8’s thunderous voice, while a nine-speed wet-clutch transmission sends up to 100 per cent of torque to the rear wheels for electrifying launches. Revised shift points exploit the extended rev range and sharpen downshifts in Sport and Sport+ modes.

Developers shed mass intelligently. An optional single-weave carbon-fibre roof, the largest ever fitted to an Aston Martin, removes the roof rails and trims 18 kg from the car’s highest point, lowering the centre of gravity. Optional 23-inch magnesium wheels, a first for any SUV, reduce unsprung weight by an additional 19 kg, enhancing ride, steering feel, and responsiveness. Customers may also specify a polycarbonate honeycomb grille with over 25,000 facets to shift weight rearward and to improve traction.

A steering ratio four per cent quicker combines with the weight savings to sharpen agility and shrink the turning circle to 12 metres. Re-calibrated air springs and electronic dampers curb body movement, and the electronic roll-control system limits roll to just 1.5 degrees. Carbon-ceramic discs measuring 420 mm front and 390 mm rear deliver relentless stopping power.

Designers reinforce the performance message with a black-vaned grille or optional honeycomb polycarbonate insert, a deeper splitter, a larger diffuser, and wrap-around daytime running lights. Upturned side-sill splitters guide airflow, and carbon-fibre mirror caps, strakes, and lower sills are available. Solid-metal ‘S’ badges, enamelled in red, adorn the front wings. At the rear, reprofiled bumpers house vertically stacked quad exhausts, available in gloss or matte finishes. Buyers may add carbon exterior elements that shave an additional 7 kg and select a striking lower livery in Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, or Podium Green.

Inside, a bespoke ‘S’ theme features a dynamic herringbone pattern on the standard Alcantara seats and, when paired with the carbon roof, on the headlining. The pattern widens upwards to suggest speed. Semi-aniline leather reinforces high-wear areas and can be used to upholster the entire cabin for added opulence. Red seatbelts add a vivid accent, while ‘S’ embroidery, precision-pressed Aston Martin wings and branded treadplates and engine plaque underline exclusivity.

Aston Martin’s in-house infotainment platform shapes a fresh cabin architecture, complemented by a 14-speaker, 800 W premium audio system. Audiophiles can upgrade to a Bowers & Wilkins 1,600 W, 23-speaker setup that utilises aluminium double dome tweeters, Continuum mid-range drivers, and a powerful subwoofer to deliver an immersive 3d soundscape.

The DBX S upholds Aston Martin’s celebrated ‘S’ lineage, pairing extra power with significant weight reduction for an uncompromising driving experience. Customers can now order the ultra-luxury SUV, with first deliveries set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
