Volkswagen Unveils Intelligent EV Line-Up in China
At Auto Shanghai 2025, Volkswagen Group shifts from plan to delivery, unveiling ten new models that underline its ‘In China, for China’ strategy. The Volkswagen brand presents the ID. ERA, ID. EVO and ID. AURA concept cars—intelligent, fully connected electric vehicles tailored to Chinese drivers. Audi joins the showcase with the all-electric Audi A6L e-tron, built on the Premium Platform Electric, and the first production model from the new AUDI marque, the AUDI E5 Sportback.
These premieres launch the Group’s largest intelligent connected-vehicle offensive in China. By 2027, the Volkswagen Group plans to introduce more than twenty new-energy vehicles. By 2030, its brands aim to offer approximately thirty purely electric models, further solidifying their leadership in the e-mobility sector.
During Group Night, the company demonstrates an AI-driven, highly automated driving assistance system created by CARIZON, CARIAD’s local joint venture. The system shows natural, safety-focused responses in every traffic scenario, highlighting Volkswagen Group’s technological edge in China’s competitive ADAS market.
The first vehicle equipped with this technology is expected to arrive later this year. From 2026, the system will power a new generation of compact, intelligent, connected cars, bringing Level 2++ capability to broader segments and paving the way towards Level 3 autonomy.
The Group also underscores its luxury and performance credentials by revealing the Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini Temerario, Bentley Continental GT Convertible Azure, Ducati Multistrada V4 S and Ducati Panigale V4 S.
Oliver Blume remarks, “China is the technological pacemaker of global transformation. The Volkswagen Group plays a key role in shaping this development. We have a strong plan in place… Leveraging local expertise, we are creating products that excite and that strengthen our global footprint.” Ralf Brandstätter adds, “The Volkswagen Group has shaped the mobility landscape in China for more than four decades. Now we are opening the next major chapter… with the first models developed entirely locally.”
From 23 April, visitors can explore more than 50 years of models from Volkswagen, Audi, the new Audi I brand, Porsche, and Bentley at Auto Shanghai 2025, a clear demonstration of the Group’s enduring commitment to Chinese innovation and customers.
