Horse Powertrain Unveils Low-Emission Range at Auto Shanghai
Horse Powertrain makes its debut as a single, consolidated organisation at Auto Shanghai 2025, presenting a comprehensive portfolio of low-emission combustion and hybrid powertrains to a global audience. The company supplies cutting-edge propulsion solutions that improve efficiency and reduce emissions for passenger and light commercial vehicles worldwide.
Operating through Aurobay Technologies in Sweden and China, and Horse Technologies in Spain, the London-based firm combines decades of research and manufacturing expertise. Its network spans 17 manufacturing plants and five advanced research centres, supported by 19,000 specialists across South America, Europe, and Asia, ensuring rapid innovation and reliable scale.
Matias Giannini, Chief Executive Officer of Horse Powertrain, said: “We’re a new, independent global business that is, first and foremost, a problem-solving partner, helping OEMS navigate through the headwinds of today’s automotive industry. We believe there are many paths to net zero, and we are driving innovation across combustion and hybrid technologies, as well as alternative fuels, to help deliver mobility for all.”
Formed in May 2024 as an equal joint venture between Renault Group and Geely, with a 10 per cent investment from Aramco in December 2024, Horse Powertrain inherited the established combustion and hybrid production units of both founders. Its current lineup already satisfies 80 per cent of global market demand, while ongoing research targets higher thermal efficiency, new powertrain architectures, and alternative fuels.
The company designs and manufactures complete hybrid, plug-in hybrid, range-extender, and traditional combustion powertrains, as well as key components such as electric motors, transmissions, batteries, and power electronics. Visitors can explore these technologies at Auto Shanghai in Hall 8.1, Booth 8A177, with a press conference scheduled for 10:00 a.m. CST on Thursday, April 24.
