Ferrari e-Vortex: New Fiorano Test Track Boosts Testing

Ferrari has completed e-Vortex, the new test circuit beside the Fiorano track, in less than four months. The 1.887 km layout spans about 37,000 square metres and marks a significant advance in how Maranello validates sports cars coming straight off the production line.

Engineers designed the Ferrari e-Vortex test track to meet the most demanding development and validation needs. It enables precise, repeatable testing that complies with the highest safety standards. The track divides into sectors focused on performance and driving pleasure, with two broad banked curves featuring a longitudinal slope, a central straight, and technical handling bends for studying dynamic behaviour. Special road surfaces, created from Ferrari’s experience and expertise, support detailed analysis of comfort and performance while maintaining consistent grip.

The e-Vortex facility lets Ferrari shift more testing from public roads to a controlled track environment. Teams can assess performance more objectively and identify anomalies faster, improving quality control and shortening feedback loops. Consolidating activity within the new testing area also reduces the impact on local traffic around Fiorano.

Ferrari has added a 1,000 m² overhaul workshop next to the circuit to host static checks and selected vehicle work. This set-up streamlines internal flows, speeds the car overhaul process, and keeps test vehicles close to the action for quicker turnaround.

Key details of the Ferrari e-Vortex test track reinforce its focus on comprehensive vehicle development. The circuit measures 1,887 m in length with a surface area of 37,351 m² and lane widths from 6 to 14 m. The main straight stretches 600 m to support acceleration, braking and high-speed stability tests. Special porphyry block paving appears where engineers require distinct surface characteristics. Dedicated sections enable NVH, comfort and durability analysis, helping Ferrari validate refinement as well as outright performance.

By delivering e-Vortex in under 4 months, Ferrari strengthens its test track ecosystem at Fiorano and accelerates the path from the production line to a road-ready sports car, providing safer, more repeatable results that enhance every stage of development.
