BMW M GmbH Sales Hit Another Record Worldwide in 2025

BMW M GmbH delivered outstanding sales growth again in 2025. The brand posted record BMW M GmbH sales for the 14th year in a row. It also beat its competitors by a considerable margin for the seventh consecutive year. BMW M GmbH sold 213,457 vehicles, which lifted the 2024 total of 206,582 by three per cent. The high-performance and performance models both set new benchmarks. BMW M GmbH drove success in every market with a modern model range across multiple vehicle classes and a broad choice of powertrains. In 2025, customers chose a BMW M model for nearly every tenth BMW sold. That 9.8 per cent share marks another milestone.

“Our 14th consecutive sales record validates our strategy. We will continue to offer performance and high-performance vehicles across the entire BMW model range. With fully electric, partly electric and all-ICE powertrains,” says Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH.

BMW M GmbH combines racetrack capability with everyday usability across its high-performance cars, and the BMW M5 range powered much of the 2025 growth. The BMW M5 Sedan and the BMW M5 Touring delivered enormous sales increases in their first full year on the market. Both models use a model-specific version of the M HYBRID system with a peak output of 535 kW/727 hp and a maximum system torque of 1,000 Nm. A high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor work with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission to send power to the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag, both published by the German Axel Springer SE publishing house, awarded the BMW M5 Touring a “Golden Steering Wheel”. The BMW M5 Touring achieved the highest points score of all finalists in the competition. The jury also rated it ahead of the other class finalists in every driving discipline, and it led in efficiency and value for money.

The BMW M2 Coupé led 2025 sales among high-performance vehicles. Customers can also choose a manual transmission model. BMW also offers an even more track-focused BMW M2 CS special model. This delivers 390 kW/530 hp and recently set a new record time of 7:25.5 minutes at the Nürburgring.

The BMW M3 family also drove strong demand from performance enthusiasts. The line-up offers tightly focused variants, including saloons with different output levels. The BMW M3 entry-level model targets purists with a six-speed manual transmission and 353 kW/480 hp. Buyers also showed strong demand for the Touring variants. BMW launched the BMW M3 CS Touring in 2025, delivering 405 kW (551 hp) as the most sporting variant. Strong BMW M3 family sales helped BMW M GmbH set a new record, with almost 71,500 high-performance vehicles sold.

The BMW X3 M50 led the M Performance models and became the best-selling BMW M GmbH vehicle of 2025. The premium mid-size SAV brings standout performance and a charismatic look. The M TwinPower Turbo engine works with 48-volt mild hybrid technology to deliver a maximum system output of 293 kW/398 hp. BMW pairs that output with specific chassis technology and signature M design elements. The BMW X3 M50 moved ahead of the BMW i4 and its M60 Gran Coupé xDrive variant, which delivers 442 kW/601 hp and a range of up to 551 km. The electric BMW i4 range-topper led BMW M GmbH sales from 2022 to 2024.

BMW M GmbH lifted its share again in 2025, and customers bought a BMW M model in nearly every tenth BMW sold. The sales share reached 9.8 per cent, up from 9.4 per cent in the prior year, and it set another new record. Switzerland led demand, and customers ordered a BMW M model with nearly every fourth BMW there.

BMW M GmbH also took top spots across individual markets. Customers in the U.S. bought over 72,000 units, which made it the largest single market. Buyers in Canada, Germany, Korea, South Africa and the United Kingdom also drove BMW M models to leading positions. China delivered BMW M GmbH’s most significant absolute sales increase.

BMW M GmbH secures and expands its position through a focused model strategy. The brand builds its success on a state-of-the-art portfolio spanning ICE, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric vehicles. The development of models based on the Neue Klasse will add further momentum. “Our strategy of being open towards new technologies once again paid off in 2025. BMW M GmbH stands for optimal performance, independently of the powertrain type. In all markets and across all vehicle classes. Customers looking for a performance or high-performance vehicle will always find it at BMW M GmbH, says Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President Customer, Brand, Sales at BMW M GmbH.

BMW M Motorsport also remains a core pillar for the brand. The BMW M Hybrid V8, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and the BMW M4 GT4 EVO delivered more than 180 victories in 2025. In works motorsport, the BMW M Hybrid V8 delivered competitive performance in the first half of the FIA WEC season. The team delivered its strongest result of the season, a 1-2 finish at Road America, amid a season of highs and lows. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO also had a tremendous season. The season highlights included triumphs at the Nürburgring 24 Hours (Germany), the Suzuka 1000 (Japan), the Indianapolis 8 Hour race and in the GTD Pro Class at the 6 Hours of the Glen and the Petit Le Mans (both U.S.).
